Swapping stored tapes into party
Is there not a way to directly swap a tape in your storage with one in your party, or am I just too tired to realise I missed it? I was trying to swap some out to try a new creature and had to put my party into storage first.

May or may not have found my first bootleg within seconds of exploring the new areas in the full game and wanted to try it out.

Heya! You are able to swap tapes if you rest at a campsite or if you rest at the Gramophone Café! Let me know if that was the answer you were looking for and let us know if you enjoy the game so far!

If I am reading his post correctly I think he is saying He can't figure out a way to when at a rest site to swap a monster in storage out with a monster in his party without first making room in his party and is wondering if it is possible to do it in one step

Definitely enjoying the game! But yeah, what Drashin said is what I was after. In order to swap a tape in, you have to first store a tape, then go into storage and retrieve one. It'd be awesome if there was a way to just go into your storage and it'd give you an option to swap a tape directly with a party one if your party was already full.

Apologies for the thread necro, but it would be so much easier if we could swap tapes in and out of storage if we didn't have to stop at a camp to do that. I'm making the presumption that our tape storage is always on us, since how else would we be able to swap tapes at any given campsite outside of Harbourtown?

There still isn't a way to swap something from storage into your party without first depositing a tape from your party, is there?

I also find it a bit tedious to have to go and retrieve tapes from my inactive partners, so I actually ended up giving each of them a random Traffikrab to have while inactive. Would be nice if you could swap the tapes of your inactive partners via the tape storage as well, even if you could only do so at the cafe.

I'm so sincere when I say this. This game is really good but the lack of explanation there is for the most core mechanic of switching monsters in and out of your party. I'm currently in Gramophone Cafe and nowhere do I see where I can rest or a monster storage. Was having a 10/10 experience until this.

you can rest at one specific table in the cafe and you can access storage at any rest site including campfires. switching afaik requires storing a tape in your party first and then you can take one out of storage (something I didn't think was odd until I read this topic actually).

I think the reason you can't swap tapes at any time is because of balance issues. as the game is programmed right now swapping a tape into and out of storage fully heals it which means you never really have to rest unless you took damage as a human and while they could theoretically change it to not heal tapes deposited in storage that would probably cause save file bloat as the game would now need to track the individual health values of potentially hundreds of tapes as opposed to just the 6 in your party.
