What happens when you leave New Wirral?

I've beaten the final boss of the story. Got the option to talk someone to leave. Will I just get an ending and be able to load the save before that, or will the game continue? I'm afraid to go through with this.

Leaving New Wirral will play the ending, but if you load the save you will be at the point before activating the ending. So, you can continue after watching the ending.

Yes, reloading the save afterwards also starts some unique post-game content you wouldn't get otherwise.
