You can ignore the top 100 and it's usually fine, but yeah they should monitor them or get some kind of way to prevent it... Sad thats always the case, at least with any bigger games.

Even w/o hackers, the leaderboards are pointless as you apparently have infinite attempts to do every level, making the max score incredibly easy to achieve.

I'd assume the score is only limited to bananas collected and remaining time. When you fall out, the score from collected bananas sticks, but the bananas aren't reset.
If they do a leaderboard for story mode, it's probably a one-and-done thing, where once you clear a level, you can't go back, a la SMB2.

I hope they tweak the score to punish those who fail/retry levels continuously. If they did that then I would be pretty happy, though knowing Sega...I doubt they would think that far ahead.

Which can still be hacked. Usually time is by frames.

I was responding to the "infinite retries" comment. The game will most likely have a friends leaderboard also.

Yeah! They should remove the achievements too, since people can unlock them illegitimately with Steam achievement manager. And remove all the stages since people can just use cheat engine to beat them. Finally, remove the game itself because people can just pirate the game.
