Is there a cap to how many followers you can have at one time?
Like title says, i wanna ask if anyone has gotten to a sort of cap or not.
i try to get as many followers i can but they grow old or i have to sacrifice them and other things happen that lower my follower count.

None that I've seen yet. With half cost/duration rituals, you can use the resurrection ritual often enough to greatly offset most deaths.

I know someone had 100 at once just to see what would happen, it was just a little busy and lower framerate but it wasn't the cap.
Not directly related but if you have zero followers, you have 2 days to find a new one or else your save will actually be destroyed (not even joking).

How did they get 100 followers? That just seems like an unreasonable amount of followers for the game.

What I did for the cap is just let them sit in the indoctrination portal. If a follower dies and you don't want to use bones to resurrect, then you can take a follower from the portal.

At least this way there is a pool and no known penalty other than a crapload of pending followers.

You can also get necklaces to double the life of your followers, which makes things slow down for death count.

Followers don't age if you haven't officially let them in yet right? You can just re-do dungeons over and over and over again until you have a ton of pending followers, then let them all in at once.

Unreasonable, yes, but perfectly fine to challenge yourself to get and maintain that many followers. Though, while there isn't really a cap on how many followers you can have, having too many followers could be a real struggle. I don't know how you would be able to maintain that many for long.

Here's your answer for how much of a struggle 100 followers would be, your computer, your console and probably even the your Switch would freaking melt, having close to twenty already causes stuttering how much worse would 80 more cause that.

I have quite a powerful PC and new PC, I'm sure framerate wouldn't be much of an issue. Not for me anyways

Even if you have a banger of a PC, there's some games that take more and more resources to operate the more and more models get put on screen, Prison Architect comes to mind with that where the more inmates and staff in your prison the more resources from the GPU if I remember correctly has to use to keep up because it has to calculate EACH route for them, if it can't then you'll start gets FPS issues simply because the game's starting to chug.

I play a ton of VRChat and you wouldn't believe what an unoptimized mess of a game that is, especially because absolutely EVERYTHING is user created, and I still do well. I guess there is only one way to find out.
