Griffon Feathers (for Griffon wings)

I found a Griffon, killed him, then got no feathers. Instead I got regular feathers with the Griffon enchant.
Do i need to kill a higher level Griffon for the feathers to drop or do i need to find a merchant that happens to have Griffon feathers on him and then buy them for the price of a small island?

I've just finished grinding Griffon and every Griffon gave me atleast 2 feathers for the wings, sometimes 10 as a rare drop. I dont know which Island level you found the Griffon, but at my game, it was at Island level 7, mobs level 86+. Griffon was level 114-115 (used the scroll of Anubis, dont know the direct name, that let you respawn Boss monsters on the current map, aka the Griffon).

Just kill more griffons, you want to kill higher lvl griffons anyways for other loot and those will certainly drop feathers. up to 20 sometimes

Right I guess level 55 is too low then i think that one i fought was on a level 4 island.

Yeah I got pretty annoyed with Griffons no dropping feathers early on,
