Only Windows 10 version players and Xbox players can play together.
From what i know, they're already working on the multiplayer aspect to make it more stable, if you're referring to the multiplayer issues e.g lag and such.
Dedicated servers so people don't have to go on Discord / Steam forums to find someone to play with...
Yeah i agree, and i've also posted about it to them myself. Online time will tell what they do about such a feature really.
There are no dedicated servers yet. It currently works using Peer to Peer connections, meaning that one person host and plays at the same time, and when they log off, the connection will be lost for anyone who was playing with them. Not even sure if they are working on dedicated server support for this game, though that would definitely be the best way to do multiplayer in this game. They would of course have to let server hosts set up their servers the way they want to by enabling all the hidden settings for multiplayer and possibly more, for a more tailored setup.

Quick-how-to: Go to your steam library -> where its filtering by games tap there and put to filter by software instead -> a list of game-related software will pop-up -> you will find Craftopia Dedicated Server there -> install and run normally as if it was the game -> you can configure it going into appdata files and modify further by modding it yourself like the base game and in addition run some console commands to maintain the server (like kicks and bans)
I wasn't aware that they've released a dedicated server build themselves. However, this thread is not about the PC version but whether or not Xbox and Steam users can play together, which i already answered. There is no dedicated servers for Xbox players.
I know what dedicated server is. I've hosted multiple dedicated servers for years in other games.
You can't do direct IP connections on a console because they need to go through e.g Xbox Live Services, acting as a medium before connecting to any server, and the server need to be an actual Xbox dedicated server running a server side software developed for the console.
There is, and have never been any direct IP connection options for any game on Xbox Live. It's either Peer to Peer, or games where the developers have already established their own dedicated servers in which the game has a server browser where you can connect by picking a server of your choice from said list.
PC is different because it's much easier to set up servers since most games are developed on the PC platform to begin with.
A dedicated server just means that there's no active player on the server rig itself and that the server won't be disconnected when the server owner logs off.
So no, there are no dedicated servers run by players on the console and there won't be unless the developers of the game contacts Microsoft and look at potential hosting partners for the game, which can be somewhat messy for the console and cost a bit of money.
Got a dedicated server running for multiple games most crossplay with xbox and pc. But because of the lack of the ip login button cant crossplay.
