how do i get cabbages if i need cabbages to buy them, and the same goes for potatoes

You buy potato seeds from the merchant smith that takes money in the first town. Then you get rice seeds from the potato merchant smith, then you get cabbage seeds from the rice smith in the second town. Hope this helps.
