I was going to buy this game, but one helpful review IMMEDIATELY made me shift gears into not wanting anything to do with it.

Dear devs, is it true you did this?
That you removed biomes, and over %75 of content?
Seems he changed his review from positive praising it before-update
to negative after-update...
I hope the update is actually reversed, I really do. Craftopia's screenshots seemed so promising. And then I learned one update kinda... made it dead on arrival...
The update sounds like if Garry's Mod removed the steam workshop. It'd be irreversibly damaging.

So you're the type that's easily influenceable with a single post. Yikes.

From what I read the recent update did remove alot of stuff....for the moment. They are slowly reworking the other stuff and adding it in. Before making a judgement based on one person's point of view, you may want to do a bit of research....
Here is a post from the devs showing their plans.

Well, the person reviewed that made a video too. It is not just words against words. It is present situation vs voiced plans. I can understand that sometimes you might need to remove something to be able to improve. But is there any explanation why removing THAT much was necessary? Or when we will get back what was removed? I would also like to see something about when I will be able to actually play the game because the game that worked in the past now just crush to desktop for me. And judging by some discussion there it is not a new problem and I am not alone experiencing it.
And what exactly you suggest to research to make the game state better? It is clearly worse than it was before, no amount of research will show otherwise. Did developers even said that they will return what was removed or it is just an assumption from you?

Yes, the devs are REWORKING the content that was removed so it will fit more 'seamlessly' into the new world. (see what I did there?) At present time the Seamless world is only about 45% actually there from what I've seen. I've walked around the "restricted zones" I've seen the in work content in that area. I've seen some of the caves first hand, despite the devs best efforts to keep players from seeing that content. It's getting there. It looks promising. If you watch just a small handful of people and see their bad reviews and don't READ the devs posts and their timeline, it doesn't make sense that you continue to support this game or that you support it at all. I wasn't surprised when I loaded up the seamless update after playing the islands and noticed a lot of content was missing. New world, new problems. The last system was fairly well flushed out. But they wanted to go open world. If they had thrown EVERYTHING they had into the new world all at once it'd likely have been another year before we ever saw the seamless update.

But it is accurate.
Large amounts of content was removed and is planned for like 2+ months later.

That is part of the problem. There is nothing wrong with not punishing players from trying to access something that already there. Especially for EA title. Yet instead of communicating and allowing to push the limits devs implemented some stupid restrictions. I am not sure if punishment for accessing restricted zones was done on purpose or by mistake and I am not sure either which is worse. But it is terrible. It is not a competitive MMO where inaccessible hiding place might give an unfair advantage or heavily monetized game where someone might start complaining about some issues with paid stuff. There is literally no reason to implement what devs implemented here to keep players from going into restricted zones. Not to mention how broken that mechanic is.
And about "new worlds, new problems". I cannot really remember any other game where half the content was removed because of some new world. Well, except Destiny 2, but that is a different story. I guess I've heard of something like this in completely broken games, but those never survived for long after that. You are literally just closing your eyes to the issues and repeating "everything will be good, I believe in it" mantra when facts shows directly opposite.

And why would new players even care about this? It's like saying "I'm frustrated because an item that existed in a previous version 3 years ago when I wasn't even playing was removed!".

They always treated Seamless as a new game. In fact, just allowing the possibility to inherit old items is a gift from the devs. Most games would've just wiped the data clean and forced you to start over again from scratch.

If it happened once it can happen again. Besides, amount of available content is an important question, especially for an EA title.

You are buying into an EA game. Stuff change and move around. If you want something more solid, just wait until release.

Sure, but it has nothing to do with the removed content, which is what the OP is concerned about.

I think the problem lies at people who belittle Seamless as "an update" that fixed some bugs. It's not. It was a total overhaul of the game.

The review linked is a bit harsh, but many of the points made are valid. I assume some of these issues will be sorted out in the future, but as it stands today the game still needs a lot of work.

And the changes to the crafting system does make the gameplay loop very different. For those that enjoyed the crafting and gathering pre-Seamless this was not welcome, and it's not something planned to return.

I would definitely give that game a try later when some issues have been sorted, but you might not have a good experience going in to it now.

what punishment are you talking about lmao
there is no punishment for accessing restricted zones, there is only an attempt to keep you out of the zones because they are much less finished than the current zones.

there's already like 70 hours of content in the current early access lol, considering the game is $25 retail and very early access that's pretty good
"amount of available content" is specifically not an important question when you are discussing an early access game because it is early access, that is the entire point is that the game is still in progress, if you don't want to play an unfinished game then don't play early access titles, it is really that simple

Hey pal us older players are the ones that funded this in the first place. You cant just shun us because the devs totaly changed it. CMON if it was not for older players backing the EA then you would not be playing the seamless. Typical dead head.
i am an older player, the difference is that i can take a few seconds to look at the store page and see the giant banner that says the game is early access lol

As far as content being removed, it has to do with the way the world changed and how their progression system works. The gameloop is basically going to different biomes (islands in the legacy version) that would contain different items needed for crafting, and the ability to craft "better/new" items are gated behind a delivery quest requesting items from a specific area.

Essentially what they have done is released the first few "islands" with their items and delivery quests and left a "final" delivery quest that would give you access to the next set of items unable to be completed. They did that so you don't get access to a bunch of stuff you cant make yet because the area the items come from isn't complete yet.

They changed from islands you would teleport to, to a single landmass (among other changes like combat rework and dungeons.) They chose to release what they've completed so far, but they just haven't completed the areas that "used to exist" (in the form of islands) so anything that is gated by items coming from those areas was in a way "removed" for now. We may have once had access to "hell" or whatever islands, but now an entirely new area needs to be created to place within the "seamless world" that would serve the same purpose. They cant just copy and paste the islands into the new update.

At the end of the day, legacy still exists if anyone likes that more for now, and whether we agree on timelines for development or not it is still not "finished" 1.0 released so all we can do is give them time. I played another 40ish hours with the new update before i stopped so it's really not bad at all, they just haven't caught "the seamless update" up to legacy yet.
