"Clothespole" katana, how to unequip it?

I just found a cool new sword/katana named "Clothespole", but no matter what I do with it, I cannot unequip it without 1) slow walking into water and swimming (it reduces your movement speed when wielding) or 2) casting heal spell on myself (but that has a looooong cooldown).

Is there a faster way to "unequip" this weapon? (Switching to axe/pick or something else doesn't work, just tells me that now isn't the time to do that.)

Yup, I had the same issue, C (Dodge keybind) or Ctrl (Crouch keybind) sheathes it properly so it's actually unequippable.

Otherwise you're in the Monster Hunter knockoff Sacred Sheathe state it seems...

((Don't get me wrong, I'm loving it: Katana and Dual Wield is basically MH Longsword and MH Dualblades respectively, it's amazing))
