Do this game use Unity assets or the like?
As the title states... Do this game use such either free or paid store assets?
I'm not necessarily against their use in games especially indie ones but in the trailer the different styles and textures is very jarring and looks bad.
I had it on wishlist and its on sale so I checked it out not remembering what it was. The concept is interesting and the reviews are positive...
But the trailer looks ridiculous and I'm concerned about the actual quality and consistency of the game.
Seeing a anime avatar with BotW style graphical shaders one moment then a wii looking avatars the next... BotW cel shaded terrain in one and then some well textured dungeon and complex foliage the next. Its all just raising red flags.

It seems like it, a lot of the assets don't mesh well like the player anime character models and the realistic looking NPCs, so I think that something is off in that aspect

I've found most of the assets used in this game on the Unity Asset store.

It seems they just mashed a bunch of assets together to make this game.

This is common for early access or alphas.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, since the art will most likely change as it goes along in development.

It also wouldnt surprise me if this game was being developped by a very small team with one artist that is stretched thin. I make my own games, unfortunately alone, and being stretched thin is an understatement.

I have nothing against asset use or the people needing to use it due to time/budget constraints. It's just the game looks really inconsistent in quality and theme. I'll just hold out and check again later and see if things improve as it gets developed more.

To be a bit of a pessimist, I wouldn't get your hopes too high for this game's development.

The game concept is kind of a mess. They found a bunch of systems they liked, and smashed them all together. Some of them work well together, and others don't. It's an unpolished mix of copy-paste mechanics from other titles and media. Games like Please, Don't Touch Anything, BoTW, Pokemon, Satisfactory, every survival game, Age of Empires, Stardew Valley, etc. They even added in some AI chat features that don't serve any gameplay purpose.
There doesn't appear to be an effort to upgrade and blend it all together either.

More disconcerting is that the company appears to be devoted to it's next big game, Palmon. From all the marketing it looks pretty exciting (just like Craftopia did). But the more you look at it, the more it looks very very similar to Craftopia with some extra stuff on top.

If this was just some Indie team working on something they loved and were having a good time nerding out, that would be pretty cool. But the developer has a lot of red flags, particularly the director. The pocketpair website has some of his work history, but this doesn't appear to line up with his own LinkedIn profile let alone looking into the companies they claim to have founded shortly after graduating.

It seems like this is your standard cash grab and I anticipate this company will jump from one half-baked idea to the next and never actually finish anything. They appear to have one game out of early access, but the reviews appear to indicate the game was abandoned and never truly finished.

Hmmm ok thanks. i'll just drop this title then. I was holding hopes out simply because the reviews seem to be positive on Steam.
