What happened to the playerbase?

Since release the game has lost a whopping 95 % of it's playerbase. Are there specific reasons for this exodus? Like to know before I buy.

To put it simply.. The game is a mile wide but an inch deep.

Maybe seamless will fix it...but honestly I would have been fine with an update to let us hop islands without our friends having to tag along..

It's still in development and it has changed quite a bit since i first bought it. See no point in playing it until this next seamless update or the release.

year and a half since seamless announcement. a lot of people are waiting on it.

I haven't played since shortly after the initial EA launch, figured I'd let it cook a while longer and then the seamless change announcement pretty much put it on ice until its out.

Tell me, did the game get any less "cutsey" during EA so far? While some of it was fine, some of it was a little too much for me.

The Open World update will nuke save progress, so most of the people who were playing a year ago are waiting until it actually releases to play again. (Edit: There's also Palworld incoming soon(tm), which so far looks like the same game Craftopia was promised to eventually be, but with Unreal Engine and better Capture mechanics)

There has been slow progress with the seamless world and that will probably result in reset of character progress. WIth that said....players have this attachment to the current progress and are probably waiting for the seamless world update to hit. Along with a mediocre multiplayer system, there are other games out there and the players are loosing patience.

With that said....is the game terrible? No, its well worth the asking price and you can get enough time out of the game in its current state.

During Early Access, we will be updating the game based on our development roadmap, adding content, and improving the game system aggressively. We will decide on extending Early Access or releasing the game officially, depending on development progress.”

Early Access started Sept 2020
It's Feb 2023, and the game is still in Early Access.

its not mmo so playerbase is not even question here if u want to coop and play with someone its okay, most people are waiting for seamless world if u want to buy and have concerns maybe wait till seamless update comes.

Basically they sold people on a concept, and the result leaves much to be desire.

Also games don't have to be a service, you can in fact play a game, enjoy it, and finish playing a game. You can also take breaks and come back to do another round if you wish. Also probably alot of people are waiting for the seamless map update, since that at the very least will wipe out any world progress you make.
