Abandoned

I really like the look of this game, ticks a lot of boxes for me and my friends. but i read a lot that the devs have abandoned it and moved onto their new project leaving this unfinished. How true is this?

Not true at all. Updates are still being pushed out. The biggest one coming down the pipe will probably be at the end of this year, they are working on getting rid of the separate island system and stitching all the island maps into a singular world. A big change like that would naturally slow their cadence of updates, but all signs point to development still being active.

The rumor was started by a bunch of trolls who automatically assumed the worst when Pocketpair announced development of Palworld, their other game. My advice, don't listen to them.

Game is coming to Game Pass tomorrow (September 2) so I highly doubt it would be abandoned!

Go into alpha unstable branch if you want quick updates.

sometime they dont say it and just let the community assume it by themself, but yea still this game dosent look abandonned. somtetime update take time

Oh dang is that true? I really like the fragmented map system since I liked using different worlds for different things and being able to reset some.

Hasn't pocket pair abandoned some other games recently? They obviously have talent but I wonder if they are not a grab the cash and go company....

Being honest, and using logical thinking, when i bought the game first time, i was thinking that could be the case, but given the sales they had and how its going since then to now, i would say they arent abandoning the game. If they would, it would have been more profitable to have done that already some time ago, but they seem to be working on it, my only concern is purely technical, they working hard into adding features, but they using the entirety of GO system of unity to do so, even thus the ECS for this kind of game should be preferable (performance, scalability and newer paradigm), which concerns me if they will be able to actually migrate partially and eventually fully to the new model (it would solve all issues consoles has with performance and crashes due to resource usage). Also the mod system of the game is actually by modding unity scripts itself, instead of implementing something like LUA engine with actual developer made calls that can be used for modifications in a safe environment, and that is not as susceptible to break as injecting things on the actual game code without any handling, also this halts them from moving to AOT from JIT, which again imho is a big deal, cause AOT would screw up to mod and would force them to release actual documentation from their builds (which again would be solved by simply using something like LUA engine with documented api calls). Other than the technicalities i said, i dont think they really plan on abandoning the game, im more worried if they will be able to overcome that technical things, given they keep adding more and more stuff using the same system.
