Is it just me or does this game have a HUGE similarity to BOTW... Even the shorts for the male character have extremely similar (if not the same) model used in BOTW.

Edit: Just because I called it a "rip-off" doesn't mean it's bad...

First of all: I love the Artstyle of BotW, i find it unique and artistic, and absolutely beautifull. That's why i'm happy that Games like this (or Genshin Impact) take this Artstyle and craft a new Game out of it. As great as BotW & Zelda is, it's obviously also bound by it's franchise which means limits, so it's good to have Games which can do something fresh and new out of it. Imagine a pure Sci-FI Game like example similiar to Star Wars or Halo but with this Graphics.

I get your point, and some "visual" aspects really feel kinda ripped off (i swear one face is 1:1 Links Face. If the dev would've added the hair you could create BotW Link, no joke), and you can hardly call it it "inspiration" anymore. And i really hope this won't become a issue in the future, BUT 90% of the Game is purely their own stuff, simply made visually resembling BotW and i don't find that problematic or an issue at all.

Secondly: I've yet to point out that BotW and this Game are pretty different games, even if a few features are "inspired" by BotW, it pretty much play differently to what BotW is. BotW while unique (especially for the Zelda Series itself), is your traditional Action-Adventure mixed with a few RPG' Elements which they ever had, and some Survival Elements which is fully converted and made in their own fitting way for a Zelda-Game. This however feels more like a full blown Survival Game, with a huge emphasis and Crafting and RPG Elements(like Skilltrees and way more variation in terms of Itemization), This Game is way closer to Ark, Conan Exiles and you name a few other Survival Game, than it is to BotW and in the end the only real huge inspiration which Craftopia has drawn from BotW is the Artstyle. Not to mention that the Game is inspired by other games as well, like namely Pokemon... so yeah...

EDIT: I just opened the inventory. This game must have been built off of BOTW

I heard someone mention that a few mins ago... about it being similar to botw

After playing it a little bit. I am now calling this game "Rip off BOTW" because of all the similarities...
Ginjii Raishin Sep 9, 2020 @ 10:56pm
It's almost like they openly said they purchased the asset package to use these similarities. Imagine being snarky over a game where the developers wanted to take parts of everyone's favorite stuff and make a game out of it. It's a tiny Japanese studio that has been super upfront about what their idea is and how they're going to achieve it.
Then some rando on steam makes a clever "Rip off BOTW" comment on the steam forums because he hasn't read, looked into or researched anything about it. He sounds like a real douche.

Wait so they purchase botw asset from nintendo?
MinocFox Sep 10, 2020 @ 12:39am
Since when did Nintendo start selling their assets? They that poor these days?
AAND Sep 10, 2020 @ 1:24am
Lol i dont think they sold assets to an EA project... especially not from zelda.... sry but nintendos greed/policies are far beyond this xD

Well i really dont get the hype here. This game just kinda looks like zelda a little bit but is sooo far away from feeling good.

Nothing fits together. Its just like a bunch of assets with clunky animations thrown together in a bucket to play around with.

Its EA or alpha... call it like you want but the building and crafting needs a huge rework right from the start xD

If the continue building up on the actual mess this wont and well.

Can you link me to the mention of this, I'm interested of reading what they envision with obtaining these assets. I tried to look it up on google, but couldn't find anything.

Think of all the assets currently as Placeholders till they start customizing them.

From what I gather, they are trying to get the game mechanics done and the general game to work before reworking the models etc.

Personally, if it is a BotW rip off who cares? Not like PC got a BotW, so there's room for one around here. Either way, I'm sure at the end of the dev cycle both games will have their own flavours. Too early to tell really with this one.

You know? I kind of agree with that...

I saw a few pictures and thought the game was inspired by BotW and that prompted me to find some videos and I liked what I saw.

So I am here because of the art style and I'm playing the game because I like the game mechanics etc. If the game mechanics are bad, it doesn't matter what the game looks like, they wont play it.

darkreaper_44 Sep 10, 2020 @ 10:28am
there has been updates almost daily....they are adding things, balancing, fixing bugs etc. other things will come with time.

And honestly all damn games are ripoffs of others games. All war games are the same, all survival, adventure, platform, etc etc. Its what they make of said game that makes certain games stand out over the other games.

Yes this game needs work, yes its early access.....but considering daily updates, they listen to feedback and seem to be pretty damn upfront about everything...they are going in the right direction. They seem to be adding and fleshing things out before the completely rehaul the looks of things. Take the hats for example...they look silly as hell, but function. Highly doubt they will stay looking goofy but more important things then some looks are what they worry about :)...that will come

I mean, I like the game, but you're delusional if you don't think a large amount of the game's concepts are ripped from BoTW in appearance. The glider's nearly identical, the inventory UI design, the spin attack on 2-handed weapons, the climbing system, the little samey-looking dungeons that lead to a room with something inside a laser cube (chests in this, the sheikah monks in BOTW), the tablets are identical in concept to the orbs you get, the enemy camp designs (both the in-the-trees ones and the "here's a campfire inside a giant skull" ones), and the photobook that's planned in the menu, with sections for monsters, items, equipment, and objects.

I'm not blaming the devs for any asset suspicions, that's on the guys who made those assets. I'm just saying that there's a LOT of ♥♥♥♥ that's almost identical to BOTW.

Edit: Oh, and the title screen which is almost identical in setup to the intro sequence when you first step outside in BOTW.
