"Subraces" question
In Drox 1, you had "subraces" for various main races, like the paranoia for shadow.
Kinda wondering, are they currently achievable in drox 2, or planned to be, and will they get their own skill-trees as well?
I did manage to get overlord to spawn, but theyre not playable. Also had a Paranoia event running, but in several hours of trying to get them to actually appear (did the initial rebel quest for them) nothing happened.

On a unrelated sidenote, almost all explosions cause massive short fps slowdown / chunkyness for me which settles back to normal after a few seconds. Using Debian testing (Linux), on a amd a8 5600k (3,2ghz), 8gb ram, rx 460 2gb if that matters.

They're already in the game and most can appear with the same events as Drox 1. And it looks like they all have their own skill tree with patch 0.815

Is there any way to unlock them via an file modification like in Drox 1? I disliked unlocking them all there and the same applies here

I have yet to get these races to be playable. When I go to create a new ship, there are two listed, one for Dryad and one for Utopian, but both have a big red X and say monster races are not playable.

I was not paying close attention to the circumstances for which the one for dryad first showed up on the ship creation screen. However, I was testing a theory on these and know that the second one (Legion as a subrace of Utopian) showed up after I got a ship to level 25. Ironically that ship was Dryad.

Has anyone actually been playing the subraces in Drox 2, and if so what is the trick to unlocking them?

Has it changed from how they were unlocked in Drox 1? There you had to discover them, encourage certain diseases, rebellions, etc. Or the resurrect a random race quest was quite effective at unlocking a few.

It isn't much different on how to discover them. Just a bit more annoying sometimes since young races that survive sector completion will start becoming recurring races that then mean a reduced numbers of mature races (the ones who can actually HAVE the sub-races).

It also doesn't help that young races tend to be harder to keep track of and thus are almost always the ones to screw up some alliance somehow.

So if you really want to "prepare" a galaxy to have people mostly more towards friendly with you from the start of a sector, you basically have to be completely genocidal to anyone who isn't a mature race as soon as you find them or buy their contact from another person, before they have the chance to get particularly liked by anyone you actually WANT to stick around.

So basically, either doing this, OR starting new sectors until you find the races you want, OR just not worrying about OCD over the size of your galaxy list and just going to new galaxies every few sectors to "wash away" the young races, is the best way to really seek out having the races you actually WANT to have if you are going for unlocks.

We seriously need a toggle that either lets you PREVENT young races from starting in the space age, or an in-game way of deleting galaxies we don't want to goto anymore.

Or both really, since the latter is an issue at times with bugs like ones that, seemingly only for that galaxy, give an ancient race like the Rizak one of the random young race's names (while they still keep their lore and their symbol), or allowing Legion/Overlord/etc to actually control with planets and such despite that supposedly not happening. And starting a new galaxy refreshes these issues.

Well, no matter how you look at it, the possibility to delete old galaxies is something we should have. It was certainly in the previous version. Any game that is willing to let a list like that get cluttered without a way to clean it up is flawed.

I try to play in the same galaxy with all my ships so I can keep developing it, but I never remember to change it when I switch ships or start a new one... I'd love to see some improvement there.

I imagine you can still manually delete the galaxies though in the save game folder though?
Kurama Kitsune Sep 26, 2020 @ 8:40am
You can. And you will probably want to start a new galaxy every now and then because otherwise you'll just fill it up full of young races that get in the way of hoping for sub-race unlocks.

Oh, and just be aware that a couple of them (Legion, Overlord, and Talon) are not playable and seem to be intended to not be able to really hold worlds so much (although they sometimes bug their way into doing so).

I wrote a quick subraces guide to get them unlocked using revive a race mission or doing it the hard way triggering and supporting rebellions , still alot of missing info on the second part but it might help some people,

I've noticed some quests don't show up in the dialogue screen , you have to go to a planet and talk to it, mainly for quests that require you to equip an item in a slot , try checking planets themselves to get the 3rd part of the race revive quest
