Coyle is a fictional video game character. I think you need to re-evaluate who actually needs the therapist.
Overall I like it,I just wish we had a bit of difficulty or use for the items we kept picking up for nothing.
Not demanding, that post was specific about ppl leaving #2 in escal, but people saying picking endless mode but cannot sit thru 30 mins is another story, I won't change my mind from your word , you can also decide to not take my word and thought and move on too, if you dont have anything to hate in this post. haha.
And I understand coyle is fictional character, I also have game that name my character as Goku when I was a kid, which is pretty normal things to do when ppl don't want to put bunch of emojis as a name.
Have you seen other user also using name as "Coyle's" "Franco's" "Gooseberry's" ? there are quite lot of them even in other language too, but I guess you not cause this seems very new to you.
Me too, because how the beginning sounds very dangerous, when she call us to dont look back, and the map are full of medicines, and item, but nothing happend. Inside the wall is actually safer than in the trial.
Pin of shame?
ROFL, you truly live in your own world.
Shame for trying to pull out other topic from someone opinion just to bully ppl. and shame on you got nothing to say about this discussion still want to drag out the name things. Hope you get better and understand ppl actually love the game. Many user have their name like this, I'm not special.
This event was hyped beyond belief which is what is one of the big flaws in my opinion because it felt more was lead on then what was actually given.
I *did* take my time during my first run of escape, I *did* feel some forms of the original outlast but it was mostly nostalgia blinding me. If the developers THEMSELVES stated this is a lore update - more should have been done then what was given and the escape trial is not enough nor the lore documents.
They could have made Escape longer, they could have done more with it - more/unique enemies, allow Henrietta to follow you till the end as she shields her eyes from the sunlight and returns back, speaking of Dorris as she refuses to leave (because she could if she wanted) until she either sees her dead or finds her in some way (but she is obviously going to be the new enemy in the trials and if not I'd be surprised as they have hinted towards the motion comics giving a sneak peak of this new NPC which is Henrietta in the BG). This also doesn't excuse why there can't be unique enemies down there as they do reuse modeled heads for corpses. They COULD have made it to where escape scales off of your Farewell mission so only players who have done enough rebirths to get the harder difficulty will get a harder difficulty in Escape.
Also for an abandoned area in the game, there should be lore documents scattered around or other things in general and the machine itself makes little to no sense as there is *no way* a machine meant to extract your ESOP and NV Goggles doesn't seriously damage you in some way in the brain or on your chest since the point of it is to get it from corpses. Personally there is less lore in this update then there was in any other update nor enough lore in the trial itself which, to me, makes the excuse "Oh it's for lore reasons!" invalid.
We are talking about a company that has made Outlast 1 and Outlast 2 AND was suppose to be working on Outlast 3 but chose to put it on the shelf while making this game and are now making a movie instead. This has nothing to do with them being AAA+ it's about caring for a quality of the game as we, the consumers, should expect quality out of a game that is priced at 40-41USD with each Skinpack/DLC being 20-21 USD.
I already went in depth in another post about the gameplay aspect of this trial but since people keep giving excuses that it's for the Lore - I chose to go more into the lore discussion then anything else.
Gameplay wise it was bland and boring - I never felt helpless, I never felt fear like I did in Outlast 1 + 2, I could defend myself with ease and was not worried about Henrietta in the slightest. If they wanted more fear --> No health items, no self defense, she does 2 bars of health and then you will have to rely on hiding spots like the older games and then it will truly be terrifying. Back in the day during EA, ♥♥♥♥♥ and Afraid on the hardest difficulty on "Grind the Bad Apples" was the only true butt-clentch I ever felt for this game OR when Coyle would outpace the player in "Kill the Snitch" during EA.
On the topic of "SpeedRunners." I am by no means a true speedrunner, a speedrunner is someone who genuinely goes as fast as possible for a record. Simply choosing to do a trial quickly doesn't make them a speedrunner and some people genuinely enjoy that type of playstyle.
I personally enjoy going quickly but if someone where to ask me to slow down, I would or if someone were to ask for help, I would offer help and to this day - no one does. As of right now when I am dragged into "Escape", I simply go as fast as possible unless someone asks me to slow down so they can enjoy it. "Escape" is honestly best played solo to get the most out of it.
Edit: I understand there is more content coming but it still isn't an excuse as they have all the time in the world for these updates since they are their own publisher and no one else is rushing them but themselves.
First and foremost, Henrietta's lore is great but why does she have to move and behave like a regular Giant (only difference is the unique dialogue)? Why not make her sprint or run on all fours like a predator or something indicative of her feral state of mind. I know Coyle injured her gravely but honestly, she could be an exception for the sake of horror, an incredibly dangerous and unpredictable anomaly so to speak. Not only, RB could have also added/implemented discarded ex-pops roaming the sewers alongside Henrietta. Maybe they were deemed too dangerous or troublesome for even the Trial and thus discarded and thrown away, akin to broken toys (e.g. missing limbs, horrible disfigurements and essentially gangrene skin). The discarded ex-pops look worse than the ex-pops seen in the Trial. All were initially assumed deceased but survived once processed, the fall down the chute breaking their limbs upon ground impact. Their body parts appear mangled or broken, some can even be missing arms, hands, legs and resort to using makeshift prosthetic via metal pipes, plastic, wood or even bones to walk/limp around the sewers. Some could even use their prosthetics as lethal weapons.
Outlast Trials is not a bad game, but as of now, there is a bit of misdirection and lack of communication to the community as a whole. Constructive feedback is key. For example, MK trials should act as necessary warm ups before completing main Trials since all connected per Prime Asset setting and themes. Completing MK trials before the main Trials also made sense from a story-wise perspective, or simply because you felt like it, rather than always accessing MK exclusively in Escalation.
