nobody follows their discord, how about they just make their news public like any competent devs would
There has to be a gamescom announcement. They wouldn’t want to spoil stuff revealed there on Steam or even their discord. It would explain the long period of silence on major updates and be consistent with the last 2 years where a Trials trailer was shown there. That’s the only thing I can think of. Don’t think they’d be doing this if there wasn’t a good reason for it.
People really need to stop with this f
August 23rd to the 27th.
I get the frustration but it doesn't make sense to reveal a roadmap now in my opinion. This isn't season 1, it's pre-season. It wouldn't make sense for RB to start releasing seasonal content now when they plan to do a full 1.0 launch across all platforms. It wouldn't be fair for people to buy the game on xbox or whatever, all of a sudden were on Season 2 or 3. It's still too early for that. I think we should be wondering about the actual release date first. And again, I think Gamescom will give that to us in addition to other information.
If by "failing" us you mean they aren't effectively communicating when we are getting new content. But to be fair, this is not only their first multiplayer game, but their first early access game. They aren't exactly used to how rabid players are for content in a game like this.
But yeah Prett is right, it says the game isn't done man. Just because they didn't scream to the heavens that they are working on new updates doesn't mean they won't. (They also say they know they need to add more content, they are very aware of the situation they are in if you READ interviews.)
I think we should be wondering about a release date before a roadmap. But that’s just how gamers are these days I guess. Get that content pumping out immediately or your game ain’t worth ♥♥♥♥ and is gonna die when it loses its players (even though literally every game in existence quickly loses its players). Doesn’t matter how solid the game itself is, get that content coming now or you suck and don’t know how to manage a game.
Game has honestly managed pretty well going this long without content and for being basically shadow dropped with little fanfare/marketing leading up to the EA release.
And yeah, RB is VERY aware of what’s happening. CM actually just spoke about the situation today… after another dev mentioned it in earlier in the month… and another time in mid-July. Today she flat out said that they’re aware and just want people to be respectful of each other in the meantime (people were arguing in the server). But no roadmap or absolute specifics on upcoming content so that doesn’t count as communication…
Just want to throw this in, I was watching a video today about crunch culture in the video game industry. It has testimonies from actual game devs talking about their experiences with crunch, video game studios, and the gaming community. Part of the video talks about how the gaming community puts tremendous pressure on game developers and will get extremely angry if the game isn’t releasing in the time they expect. It’s common for devs to receive excessive amounts of hate and even death threats if they don’t have a release date within a certain time window. Game development is rarely so simple, and a lot of issues that you don’t expect can and will pop up. It’s the reason these things can take so long sometimes.
Here’s the video in case anyone is curious. Highly recommend giving it a watch. It’s really interesting: https://youtube.com/watch?v=aS3-iSEwNhs&feature=sharec
There are an alarming amount of people here that think being okay with the current lack of major updates for trials means you have low standards or are a shill. In actuality, it’s just being understanding of the unpredictability of game development and giving devs the time to sort out issues that pop up. I have literally gone out of my way to report bugs and other issues directly to the developers via support tickets on their Discord and have provided them with detailed information that will aid in them in fixing those issues. I’m not a fanboy that just blindly excuses or ignores problems, I just think about things for more than 2 seconds.
If you watch that video I posted above and read everything I’ve said here and still don’t understand the perspective that myself and others have, I genuinely don’t know what to tell you.
