Yeah that is my one gripe....does not make much sense considering Reagents don't have much time to themselves in such hostile environments. Like one should say, "What a nice freaking key."

There is a gate control button in the generator room. Before she arriving from the elevator, open the gate, and lure her out, close the gate. You will have around 30 seconds before her return. Just keep repeating the process if once is not enough.
