If you really want a new content like maps, you will just have to wait for god knows how long and I'm glad this game didn't fail since gameplay is a actually fun and Red Barrels didn't really abandon having attention to details in terms of animations, dialogues, personality, and graphics. Since Red Barrels does not have a huge team like DBD, it takes significantly longer but the game will get better over time since their road map states they will implement something like Infinity mode.
Keep in mind that weeklies and events in samey maps still couts as content to keep players satisfied while waiting for actual new content to come out. This is still not different from every live service games I had seen.
Recycled gameplay and maps is quite standard for Outlast Trials...yeah it sucks and I think improvements need to made like RNG map layout/design to add variety, but that is the reality, players will simply have to wait for new content.
If you disagree than I encourage you to find a game that lets you build a map, and make a great map filled with everything you would find in this game and see how long it takes.

I agree more pain is always more fun. <3
Yeah... All two of them.
I'm less seething than the OP, and I still enjoy the game.
But I do still agree with him.
For what is essentially a live-service game, the content is pretty lite and it's drip fed at a pace that doesn't do well for it's longevity. People bore themselves of the content, uninstall then months later when a tiny content patch comes out they return just to burn the new and very short content in an hour or so. Rinse and repeat.
The fact that the game only had 2 Prime assets during Early Access was totally acceptable, but to see that even in the 1.0 release that it's STILL only Coyle and Gooseberry is really disappointing. There is also nothing that differentiates them. They both just chase and then do damage if they reach the player. There's no unique asset abilities like setting up traps, turning off lights, ranged attacks etc.
They could have had a new Prime asset for every map:
It would have added to much more variety and would make the game feel a little less repetitive or uninspired which is the death knell for Live-Service games.
I know there's a roadmap and there's new content "coming". But they really need to start striking while the iron is hot or they risk Outlast Trials falling into obscurity and I'd rather it didn't.
It's honestly not a matter of an entitled playerbase.
A steady flow of interesting and new content is the responsibility and reality you accept when you take on a Live-Service model. Keeping an active player base is literally what you want.
Letting it die - less so.
One day you'll grow out of your arrogance, but today seems to not be that day.
