They replaced the old button with the "quick play" one. You first need to select a program, then you'll be able to see it. I don't know why they did this change, but yeah, awkward.

I still can't get a game of what I picked though

Depending on the time you can change your server location. At night time for me I'll swap mine to US East and tend to find people. But yeah still takes long. Was hoping crossplay would decrease that.

I honestly don't understand the thought process behind quick play. When I first heard matchmaking was getting revamped, I got my hopes up thinking they would remove all the lobby nonsense that comes with grouping up with randoms. Instead they just removed features the matchmaking system already had and gave it a new name :(

Every time I have clicked quickplay on the trial and difficulty I want to do it puts me into a party for which then the host will proceed to change the trial and difficulty and start the match, what is the point of choosing a trial if you dont get to play on that trial?

There used to be players who changed trials too. When I searched all over the Ultra program (any trial), the leader of the group would change the trial to... Genesis program, you think that was fun? No.
Although if you searched the entire program, you're supposed to be thrown to the players who searched the selected trial Ultra. The leader of the group is constantly changing. It may be you, or it may be another player. And then someone else changes the trial and does such a bad thing...
All you can do now is to be in voice chat and try to reach the group leader/ask for leadership, somehow show by signals, head nods to change the trial (difficult) or play with your friends.

You know, the game could keep the easy and medium difficulty for single-player and for playing with friends, but remove those two initial difficulties for online play and bring back the search by trial selection (there are fewer/rotation now) than there were before.
How fair would that be:? But to get acquainted with mk-challenges you can now in infinite mode, and to pass them in a group of 4 players on easy or medium difficulty in the programs is farming rebirths as before.
Also in the game you could make a limitation on the levels of the player: until you do not improve yourself, do not open more кecipes, aimfs, equipment you can not play on maximum difficulty (let's say up to level 30). I say so because there were cases when players from 1 to ~25 lvl (low levels) went out if they died on maximum difficulty or do not know how to pass the trial.
On the other hand if you introduce this restriction and there will be all 4 players in the group speedrunners is also a gaming pain. But let's be honest, they were there before, more often than not you found high lvl players for the group. Maybe there were a lot of newbies in Genesis, but I tried not to play there at lvl 65 to farm rebirths and always thought it was a stupid idea, then why should newbies play on Ultra:? But because even if the trials were blocked for one player, another group leader could still choose that trial if he had it unblocked. If the maximum difficulty of trials in programs is not blocked for newbies now then it's strange. But us seeing easy difficulty programs for high level online players is weird too.
1 easy and 2 medium difficulty is no fun.
