If you didn't find the original outlast scary, I don't think you'll find this one scary. I personally found it creepy as hell but I'm not yet numb to horror games.

Buy this for the social experience more so than the horror. It's not as scary as single player titles & I think a game like Lethal Company is scarier.

You may encounter some tense moments in the game, such as when you're being chased by multiple enemies, but overall it's not scary...Well, the first five matches can be a little spooky. But once you figured out what you can do and how the enemies act, you memorized all the mini-screamers, since then you don’t feel much tension. You can always outrun enemy, especially when it's only one. Also this game almost never punishes you for sloppy playthroughs. You may get trapped or run into a camper guy, but it is not fatal unless your health is low,

It's gory, and some of it is intense, but I wouldn't call it scary
