And as a new player i definitely would've wanted to have a clear path of what to do, like what Genesis definitely does. Having stuff spread out so much was more confusing than anything else back when i've started.
Like if you would've played through the game like it looked like how it was planned, then you would've played the hard kill the snitch-mission before going back the the easy mission of the next core therapy. That alone didn't really make sense to me from the UIs side. Now at least the game has a clearer distinction between easy, medium and hard, even locking the harder stuff away to make sure, that you don't accidentally start harder missions like 3 hours into the game.
I have to disagree. When I was new, and even now I preferred them being separated because it allowed it to feel like actual progression to unlock instead of how this just feels oversimplified. I am glad it works better for you, but the way I see it at least it wasn't that confusing. You started with the first [kill the snitch] and progressed forward completing each section til the end where you would do the rebirth-token series.
Now this is oversimplifying it and making it far too easy for people to rebirth instead of the way it was before that was honestly better. And honestly scrolling to get to it isn't really that difficult, you roll your mousewheel. I don't see how that's really necessarily difficult.
I'm glad it works for you though.
Also keep in mind, that as a new player, you only have the project genesis. Your progression is not split up into different programs, but you can see it clearly filling up from the top to the bottom. Then after your first rebirth, you get program X, offering more challenges and so on.
and what i found most annoying about the old Program X was, that it was always just about the same 6 MK challenges. Like i've played 20-30 hours mostly on Program X and after coming back, i found that i've barely played half the MK-Challenges, since X never changed, yet going back to those old MK-challenges felt extremely unrewarding, once you've reached A+ in it. At least now everything has some sort of meaning.
I mean, again. It really isn't that much work to check what you have / haven't done. And you could've just done all of the trials in order from start to finish so you don't have to worry about that instead of jumping around.
That's advice both from a new and old player on the game. And they could've easily changed Program X trials every now and then instead of over-simplifying it like they have. And I don't see how they felt unrewarding, if anything they felt like an accomplishment to do. It was like 'Hey I did the hard trials! Heck yeah!' so imo, this all really doesn't make sense to me.
And I'm also putting myself in the shoes of a new player, not just thinking of 'wow old player ez.'
Subjective.
That I can understand a bit more, I'm honestly more frustrated by the change in the trials / rebirth then I am amps. Sure it's annoying about the amps. But it is what it is.
AT least that is the way I perceive it.
Before: organised by theme.
After: organised by difficulty and selected trials.
Hence, Genesis + X + Ultra.
They've done this because we can't possibly imagine the scroll time to get to Program 10 in the future. Do you see the issue? You'll get used to it, it's new and you don't like it but this is how it's going to be now.
I think I've mentioned this to someone else, but scrolling isn't really that difficult so I don't really see the argument of scrolling. It's no worse in any game where you have to scroll. Though maybe that's just one that I have.
And I know that imo, but it doesn't mean I can't share an opinion nor how I feel about it, change is inevitable, sure. But that doesn't mean you have to like it. I'm still going to play the game despite it, but losing enjoyment is losing enjoyment.
It’s less cluttered, compact and user-friendly now. You don’t realise this until they have 20 and counting chapters in 3 years. Even then, they’ll change it again. But sure, feel free to vent.
