Where is text chat?

You're gonna release a multiplayer game in 2023 and not have the most basic form of communication? I think it would be more helpful to have it, and there's no harm in it.

they have VC, pings, and a quick select menu, thats already givin a fair bit more with the quick select menu (which alotta games wont even give you)

stronger argument is you don't need text chat because modern games have quick select comms it is easier. Also can u show me an co-op horror game with a text chat?

dead by daylights reason is because of balance, which is why SWF is always argued against because it's technically against the vision of the game since you have to use discord to talk to each other, so it's not a great example

i would guess because of immersion but considering the game tells you in text when someone is down and being executed, i don't see why that box can't also be for text chat

alot of games dont have text chat. A game like this text chat wouldnt even be plausible

Having text chat would negate an important part of the psychosis effect which is distortion of team members' voices.

However, the comms wheel definitely needs some more communication options such as:

• No
• Follow Me
• Goodbye
• Stay Here
• Run Away
• Need Medicine
• Need Antidote

The benefit of comms wheel over either text or voice chat is it's translated depending on your language settings so players who don't know the same language can still communicate.

This is especially important in Asia-Pacific servers where there is no common language that everyone can speak fluently so voice or text chat would not be as effective at communicating as comms wheel and ping.

But text chat is still essential in any game, particularly this one, since the objectives are quite complex. Besides, text chat has always been a core difference between PC and consoles, although consoles now have text chat more commonly than before, but everyone on PC has a keyboard to type with.

It's like saying "why text on your smartphone when you can just video/voice call instead?"

Also, girls are much less willing to talk on microphone to strangers (especially in male-dominated games) even if they have one (partly because they don't want to reveal they are female), so they tend to either not talk on voice chat at all, or they would rather text instead.

i cant even find many pairs of modern headphones without a built in microphone nowadays (even my earbuds have a microphone built in)
