Grading system
So does anyone understand the grading system ?

Should we be fast without taking any damage, not set any traps etc (red score) OR can we take time to find documents/posters, use items etc (healing for exemple is part of the black score), use lockpick to get more items, openning the confidencial room

I find it a bit off because sometimes I take like 1 damage (no sanity lost, no triggering traps) and still don't have the A+

And i see a lot of stream that have this "problem" too, even watch a guy using almost no item (didn't recharge his battery once), getting stab 2 time, and trigger 1 trap and just got a A when he did the police station in 20min or so

using items is a good thing i think so you can kind of inflate your grade by using rechargers and batteries, are posters being collected cause you need all of them to get an A+

I have lost sanity once, triggered a trap once and took 2 hits of damage and still got A+, so there might have been something else you did wrong
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

If I had to guess its based on some sort of point system, my friend and I managed to do "Kill Witnesses" Trial with no negative marks and were still never rewarded with A+ despite being finished very quickly. I've had trials were I took quite a lot of damage, even downed once, and still got A+ for what I assume was using items a lot during the trials.
Find the 5 posters is really important. Did some perfect game with no damage taken and no A+ because of only 4/5 posters found.

I think the way it works is Positive points (hiding, using rigs AND collecting posters ect) and negative points (taking damage, setting off traps and losing sanity). So you basically need more Positive points than negative points while still getting enough Positive points to get a A+.
It would be great if the game was clearer on how many points you need to get to A+ and how much each action gives/takes away points.
Hope this helps

5 posters seems to be required

Your grade is pretty much capped at B+ if you die at any point.
It’s all about maxing positive actions while minimising negative ones; also getting 5 posters and not dying.
Once I managed to get A+ even after being downed twice.

not sure the 5 poster number is correct. I've literally done trials where I stopped counting after the 7th poster I found. I would love to know what is the total number of posters in the level. It could be randomized or more at higher difficulties but let me know what I gotta go hunt for. I played the toy factory today for the first time. Took an hour but I searched every part of that map and found at least 6 posters. Took no damage, lost sanity 1 time when I stepped on one of those stupid floor mines and got a B+. What? In other trials I've taken damage multiple times, lost sanity multiple times BUT found all the posters and got A+. The grading system in this game needs a better explanation so the player has a better understanding of what to do. What defines an A, B C etc... Imagine going to school and being told you must get an A+ to graduate but given no information about what you'll need to study or learn in order to get that grade. You work your ass off and receive a B at the end only to find out you read 10/10 books, passed 10/10 quizzes, and turned in 10/10 assignments but you didn't bring the teacher an apple on the first day so that knocked you down 1 grade letter. But NO ONE told you that was a requirement. That is Outlast Trials' grading system in a nutshell.

EDIT - Just finished the Crush the Sex Toys MK Challenge and there were 10 posters in that trial. Not 5. Got an A+ on this one by the way. It was REALLY easy.

speed means nothing the only thing that matters is completing objectives, using as many items as possible, abusing the enemies, and getting the side objective done.

dont get hit. by anything. A+ every time doesnt matter if you take 5 minutes or 3 hours per trial

Use every battery, adrenaline or brick/bottle that you find. The game grades your actions during the trial and rewards interaction with genpops and Prime Assets. I like to play solo and by the end of most missions, I'll have saved a few bricks and rig rechargers in order to spam the Prime Asset with. Set down a mine after hitting the elevator button and then just unload everything once they set it off lol. It's pretty satisfying to boot.
Oh and don't die. That'll tank your score.

It doesn't matter if you get hit, you can still get an A+
But yeah to the OP try and snag the posters, use your Rig and find and use items, When i first started i was getting A+ just for sticking with the team and hitting mobs with bricks bottles and my stun rig. They was doing the objectives

each hit dramatically lowers your earned points.

yes you CAN still earn it. but its a lot safer to avoid getting hit to ensure and easy A+

Well yeah i think everyone knows not getting hit would be a factor in a higher score or taking as little damage as possible, you worded it like you cannot take any damage and that isn't the case. I lost 3 hp bars one game and still got an A+
