No point without VR

A game like this is made for VR, wouldnt feel right if it didnt have support for it. Horror games without VR arent scary.

maybe at some point they will attempt vr but most / alot of studios arnt ready nor able to support vr. i love vr games and i think more need to support it but its just starting to finally start to grow

Exactly, all horror games should have VR support, i think with PSVR2 VR gaming will be mainstream and more games will get support for it.

Not everyone can afford vr sets and not everyone can use them. Some people get sick when they try vr. Many developers can't even afford or have the tech to get into adding vr support. If you can afford it and use it, great, enjoy, have fun. But, the constant demand for every game to now have vr or to even be solely in vr is asinine. Yes, vr is getting more popular but it's still going to take time to be a common thing. What happened to just enjoying the fact we even live in an age with the technology to have video games at all? Just saying, maybe everyone needs to step back and look at it all with a different perspective than what you get in an expensive headset.

It's actually pretty involved. You can watch videos that explain the process. Now, imagine doing it all by yourself or with only a couple people on your development team. Along with all the other development, fixes, marketing, advertising, refunds, payouts, licensing, funding and audio work you have to do. Like I've told many people, try developing a game by yourself from scratch. See how much work it actually is and see how difficult it would be to meet the demands of players. It's definitely easy to see why many solo developers give up on their projects.

Now, I know this particular game does not necessarily fall into everything to do with what I said. But, that doesn't change the fact that adding vr is an undertaking.

VR is fine and all, but to say that it's the future of Outlast is redundant. I want Outlast in VR as much as the next person, but Red Barrels should focus on keeping it flat, or at least wait a while before releasing a VR companion title (much like Blair Witch). I'm sure this game will still be plenty fun without the VR support though. :)

No. VR is not the future. VR is a side-step to Flat. They are on the same level. One will never surpass the other. Thinking like that is entirely the reason god awful Six-Axis/Motion Controls were so popular back in the day and were being shoved into things that never needed it. Thinking things in their infancy are the future is always a bad idea.
VR is fantastic, yes. But it's not perfect yet, games are still janky in VR still, I have spent alot of time in VR over the last 4 years. I've watched it get better over the years. But it's still janky. If you're gonna sit and disagree with someone who likely has spent more time in VR than you and has had VR likely longer than you, you're a troll at that point.
