I don't know. I may refund this. After 30 minutes I'm nothing but frustrated. I've already come across a number of things that are just poorly implemented. For instance, and I don't have an accurate number here, but the campfire burns through about 30 sticks per minute, and it takes awhile to cook things.

Also, I killed a fox and it wouldn't let me skin it and take the meat. I moved all around the fox pressing "F" and nothing happened. Then I killed a deer (after hitting it over and over again thanks to it, like all the animals, getting stuck on a boulder), and it let me skin it immediately. So I went back to the fox, and this time it let me skin it no problem. I honestly think you are expected to aim your knife away from the animal because that's what I did with both the deer and the fox on the second try.

The developer seems to be putting out some patches. If this were early access and not a Playway game, I'd have more patience. But Playway games don't have a history of getting much better after launch, and a game that launches to "Mixed" reviews tends to stay that way. And it's a shame because that's how most of Playway's games are, and I love the simulator type games that they make. Unfortunately, their business plan is not to publish good games, but to publish a ton of games instead, and most of these games are a waste of money. Many of them are so bad that you could call them scams, and no one would argue with you.

Playway is leaving a fortune of money behind unnecessarily. If they would allow their developers to fully finish and polish their games, Playway would have a much better reputation, and people would be much more willing to buy their stuff. Flooding Steam with garbage is just not a good plan for staying in business.

My first run in with Playway was when they decided to make their own horror game. They ran a Kickstarter and were successful. Eventually the game came out and it was terrible. People were upset. What did Playway do? On the same day that the game launched, they posted a message saying that they were finished working on the game. There would be no updates because they didn't have time to deal with it. They then scrubbed all the evidence that they were associated with the game by changing the info in Steam so that it had other developer/publisher names. They used to do this a lot in the beginning, and still do to some extent. If a game is terrible with Mostly Negative reviews, you'll come back later and their name will be mysteriously removed from the front page in the store.

So, yeah, do I have confidence this game is going to be substantially improved? Obviously not, but all that said, Playway does have some excellent games. Car Mechanic Simulator, House Flipper and Crime Scene Cleaner--all originally published by Playway--are very good. There is nearly unlimited potential if only they would allow their developers the time they need to make great games.

Here’s my review of the game, and I do not recommend it:

- The character can suddenly die without any reason.

- The character freezes and becomes completely unresponsive (you have to force close it via Steam).

- NPCs don’t function at all, Settlers and other characters are basically just static decorations, imagine being a Viking and having to build every single building by yourself

- Items in storage randomly disappear without explanation.

- The immune system mechanic is vague and poorly explained.

- Combat mechanics are clunky and unsatisfying.

- There's a serious lack of guidance on how to build e.g., you need planks to build a sawmill, but the sawmill itself requires planks.

Imagine getting updates every single day due to hotfixes, this clearly shows the game is not ready for release.

If you're looking for a similar survival or building game, there are many better alternatives out there that are more polished and stable. But if you still decide to jump in despite all the issues, be ready to face a fair amount of frustration, maybe even a touch of depression.

Great start to a game, needs work on a few things like animation but other than that it is a very fun game. I can't wait to see how the game grows in the future.
