Focuser emitters aligned … now what ?

OK, so I've activated the machine in the Xen-like environment, some monsters spawned, I killed them… but now I don't know what to do/where to go.
There is some sort of grotto up there ( see picture : http://uppix.net/SMYloi.png ) but it seems like I can't climb up there - and for some reason my game becomes a bit laggy in this environment, which makes it more difficult to try.
I've read on some wiki that a portal is supposed to have opened and I'm supposed to hear Dr Rosenbaum, but that didn't happen for me.

Maybe I can enter some cheat code to either fix that or load the next map ?
