Half-Life: Blue Shift

Half-Life: Blue Shift

What is different?
What's the difference between this and the original Half-Life besides the graphics?(which I heard sucks compared to the original)

Blue Shift has a paralel storyline, where you're Barney, not Freeman.

Not true...having a look at my character in blueshift, I CLEARLY see freeman in an orange uniform..not a blue shift guard. Just type thirdperson in console.

Barney is who you play as in Blue Shift. If you didn't see Barney's character model, you either probably saw a glitch or the devs may have just chosen not to change models from Freeman to Barney. The latter might be the case since Half Life and Blue Shift were never intended to be played in 3rd person, so there would be no point in changing models since you normally never see them during the game, but even so, you still hold the role as Barney throughout the game.

:steamfacepalm: Just because they didn't change the player model doesn't mean you aren't Barney. At the beginning of Half Life you see Barney knocking on a door. At the beginning of Blue Shift you have to deal with a door malfunction and when you turn around you see Freeman Looking at you. Also, pay attention to the name at the beginning. B.Calhoun. Barneys last name is Calhoun m8 :P
He's possibly joking, But in case he isn't, don't the security guards also refer to you as Calhoun?

They do bro, though the devs probably chose not to change models or animations so development would probably be easier and that nomally you never see or play the game in 3rd person unless you cheat by opening up the console commands since that feature to my knowledge is only in the Steam version and not the original retail version.

I doubt it was to speed up development as all that's required is a simple model change, a model that they already had (security guards). My guess is that they just chose not to because they didn't care if someone went into third person and saw Gordon's model as it's intended to be played in first person. The console is also present in the retail version, I believe.

Its kinda weird they never changed the models, i mean i can live without a Barney model in Blue Shift since you never usually go into third person normally, though i saw in Half Life's multiplayer that they already had a model of Barney ready to use as well as the models used for the security guards. Makes me wonder why they didn't use it despite the fact if there was one there is no point in seeing it since you never go into third person.

My thoughts exactly.
