Why is the title of the game called "Blue Shift"?

I mean. Blue Shift is the theroy of the universe getting smaller right? So does that mean that the Half Life galaxy is more connected? Or is it because Barney is blue?

Blue shift and Red shift refer to the Doppler effect as it pertains to light-emitting bodies. As a light-emitting body moves further away, the wavelength increases, shifting the observed light closer to the red end of the spectrum.
