Why is the title of the game called "Blue Shift"?
I mean. Blue Shift is the theroy of the universe getting smaller right? So does that mean that the Half Life galaxy is more connected? Or is it because Barney is blue?

Why could it not be both?
To be honest though I always thought about it being only because the guards have blue uniforms, never knew about this theory you mention.

Mnn.
I mean the term "Half Life" means something scientific, So I figured that Blue Shift ment something Scientific.
It could be both I was just wondering if someone had an alternate explanation.

Just as with Half-Life and Opposing Force, Blue Shift is also a term related to physics.

I understand the Blue Shift and Half Life things but what about Opposing Force?

Opposing Force is a reference to Newton's third law of motion http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newton%27s_third_law_of_motion#Newton.27s_third_law sometimes called "action and reaction law."
And I think the expansions are pretty cleverly named, given that it could reference physics and what's happening in the expansion itself.

My thoughts exactly, as simple as that, it's the shift Barney is working.

I actually have the original boxed version of HL, Blue Shift, and Opposing Force. For Blue Shift's game manual it starts with an acceptance letter of emplyment to Barney stating that his shift will be the "Blue Shift".

At the end of the tutorial hologram barney says "you are now certified to join the blue shift high security unit."

blue shift is the movement of stellar bodies toward our perspective, red shift is the theory of the expansion of the universe
