AMD Frame Generation Issue
We are aware of the issue that is currently affecting a large part of our AMD user base with the frame generation problems.

If you are suffering from this issue please go here - https://bugreporting.thqnordic.com/#/projects/150/gothic-1-remake-community/add-issue

And fill out a report and include your DXDiag so we can get a better understanding of what is exactly going on and find a permanent solution for you all.

If you are unsure how to get a dxdiag follow this link here - https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-obtain-Direct-X-diagnostic-report-DxDiag-exe.html

In the maintime we do have two things that should work as work arounds for the moment.

1) - We have a build named "previousrelease" in the beta branches.

Right Click on Gothic in your library --> Properties --> Game Versions & Betas --> "previousrelease"

if this solution works make sure to include that in your report.

2) - AMD's own tool which is called AMD Adrenalin, this can be used to force Fluid Motion Frames.

Go to Gaming --> Find Gothic 1 Remake --> Graphics

Search Mode change from Auto to High
Performance mode change from Auto to High
Fast Motion Response change to Repeat Frame.

If this solution works make sure to include that in your report.

While these work arounds are great, this is only temporally until we find a permanent solution for this issue and we will keep you updated as we investigate the problem and of cause as soon as we have a fix in the works!

Upd.

We are currently testing new branch called "publictesting".

Go to your library, right click the game, go to properties and change the version of the game to "publictesting". This should fix the Frame Generator issue.

This is not affecting only AMD users, but also nvidia users using FSR upscaler.

With 3060rtx the FSR is (was) the only option how to get frame gen on and get nice performance. Now not working.

Any solution for nvidia users?

edit: iam aware of switching to previous version, just want to point out this it not only AMD problem

edit 2:public testing version fixed that and it is working again
FYI on your workaround for previousrelease.

I selected the previousrelease option and it redownloaded.

I then tried to launch and got an error...."....missing game executable G1R.exe" Ooof.

It listed the path it was looking in and it was in the folder "..Gothic 1 Remake" that it was looking. The file , indeed, was not there.
As described, I now need to enable AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2.1 and configure it as follows:
Search Mode – Auto > High
Performance Mode – Auto > Quality
Fast Motion Response – Repeat Frame; however, I am unable to activate frame generation with this setting (9070XT)
Unfortunately, the first solution is not working. Keeps telling me "....missing game executable G1R.exe". I hope you can find a solution soon, until then I will try top work around with AMD Adrenalin.
Just posted this on the thread for the update:

Did this update break the AMD FSR frame gen from from actually functioning? I was getting 90+ fps with basically no delay with an Nvidia GPU before this update. Now the frame gen part of the FSR upscaling doesnt seem to work?

Confirming FSR frame gen was the best way to get solid performance/visuals for Nvidia users (3080). Now does not work. Going to continue playing on previousrelease build.
Yes frame gen is not working, there's no fps boost on the new patch.

Yes, FSR frame generation is not working in this version. If you cannot enable DLSS-FG, you can work around it using Lossless Scaling and its frame generation, although for a modern game like Gothic Remake, an external frame generation is very costly (30%+ overhead easily).
They are aware sure. You deliberately turned it off because it was causing crashes and you couldn't find a solution in due time. What a load of BS.

Interesting that it wasn't crashing before, right? Sounds like they are looking for a fix for a problem they themselves created.

FSR frame gen is now working again on my 6700 XT, thank you. Sharpening defaulting to 100 tho is overkill lol.
Any chance we will get a native FSR 4 support?
I am having no problems at all with the upscaler for FSR. I will try the public testing beta--thanks so much for doing this! I have a 9070 XT and everything is fine--EXCEPT for one thing, and that is the VSYNC in-game control is grayed out and refuses to to activate. I get no tearing with it off, and my average frame rate with 4k & HDR (HDR is great if I set contrast to +20) is 120 fps +--all eye candy maxed including frame Gen--but I am just curious about running with vsync on locked at 120 fps. Running the latest Adrenalins, Windows 11 26300.8786.

Do you have any plans to include FSR 4.1 support? Curious, and AMD Frame Gen is up to 4.0, I believe--Crimson Desert uses both to good effect.

LOVE THE GAME, btw. Cannot stop playing...;) Help, I'm addicted--but it's all good...;)
