Gothic 1 Remake

Gothic 1 Remake

As a fan of the Gothic series...
I’m really looking forward to the game.

What did I like about the demo?

+ Graphics/Environment/Models
Everything is at a modern level—beautiful and well-crafted.

+ Music/Sound
Kai Rosenkranz did his job (as always). I literally cried in the main menu.

+ Voice acting & text (Russian localization)
Many authentic and iconic phrases were added. Each NPC has a unique voice, personality, and intonation. In short—it feels alive.

+ Expanded lore
There are more references to different regions of the world (Varant, Nordmar, Myrtana), more mentions of characters’ pasts before the colony, more references to the gods, a proper in-game chronology, and even a “universal language” concept. It makes sense that different nations would speak different languages. Now, the language diversity feels more natural.

What I didn’t like about the demo:

- Slow animations
The character feels clumsy—slowly opening/closing chests, sluggishly moving. Picking up items is okay, but I’d really like the option for Quickloot. Combat is also too slow, EVEN for a beginner using weapons.

- Items target
Not only do objects blend too much into the environment, but they also don’t appear interactable right away. While running, you can easily miss a berry because it simply won’t show up until you stop. You have to stand there like a fool for 1-2 seconds, waiting for it to register as pickable. The “vacuuming the map” approach won’t work on the go, and that’s frustrating.

I’m really excited for the game and hope the bugs get fixed!

About optimization:
I played at 1280x1024 resolution (my main monitor is being repaired) with Overdose settings, and everything ran smoothly for me. However, some of my friends mentioned that the optimization is even worse than in STALKER 2 (they played in 1440p)

Specs:
i9-9900K
16GB RAM
RX 6700 XT (12GB)
Samsung NVMe
I'm not touching the demo, I'm going to wait for the full release before diving in.

Dear god I'm praying that it is going to be good, even half the game that the original is.

Gothic 1 and 2 are (to me, I guess I'm old) the GOATs of RPG's so I'm pretty nervous about this.
