Request for a Family-Friendly Language Option in Gothic Remake
Dear Developers,
Yesterday, I played the demo of Gothic Remake, and I must say, the game looks fantastic. However, I have one major concern that, from my perspective, is quite significant.
I have been a devoted fan of the Gothic series since its very beginning. I have completed all the games countless times, played numerous mods, and even contributed as a voice actor in some of them. My love for this series has also spread to my children (aged 12 and 9), who are eagerly awaiting the remake.
Unfortunately, after what I heard in the demo, I now know that I cannot allow my children to play this game. I understand that your primary audience consists of players from my generation, but by introducing strong language—something that was never present in the original games—you are limiting your potential audience. If the game had a more moderate tone, I would gladly purchase three copies instead of just one.
Moreover, I feel that the Polish translation is even more vulgar than the English version. When I told my children that they wouldn’t be able to play the game due to this, they were devastated and even cried. They were so excited to experience the remake of their beloved Gothic.
Would it be possible to implement an optional “family-friendly” mode with toned-down language? Even at 44 years old, I find that I have mellowed over time, and listening to excessive profanity does not enhance my gaming experience. I would much prefer to enjoy Gothic Remake without the crude language.
I truly appreciate your hard work on the game and hope you will consider this suggestion.
Best regards,
Zbigniew Kalinowski

Have yet to test the demo my self but i hope the swearing isnt to much or uneccesary, i get ennough swearing in my line of work :P

if the devs want im sure adding a "family language" button in the settings to remove swearwords can be done.

its been done with "no gore" for 30 years at least :P

100% agree with this.

In my review I wrote, "I'd recommend adding a language filter to tone down or remove the cursing."

Here we go again...
Letting children play a game about a criminal colony where they can murder people, run them through with a sword or beat their brains out with a heavy mace? Sure, why not.
A game with half-naked women? Sure, why not.
A game with tons of booze? Sure, why not.
But profanities? HEAVEN FORBID, THAT'S WHERE WE DRAW THE LINE.

Dear developers, please don't encourage this nonsense.

Are you kidding? Then your Kids have to wait a few years to play the game, wheres the problem? Your kids have to learn that some things are not for them. It is a bad lesson if they learn that other people or their works should change for them. And it is a bad lesson to teach them that they can have everything if they just cry loud enough.

Teach them Patience because patience is a virtue.

Im strongly confused. Are we talking about the same game? Because Gothic 1 and 2 had a very strong language. At least in german. Jetzt gibts volles Pfund aufs Maul, du Arschloch!

I would like to remind you that this is a game, a fictional sphere you enter and shouldn't take seriously and in combination with being an adult there shouldn't be any censoring or family friendly filtering at all...

This game has a pegi rating of 16. There is a reason for that.

While we're at it: Please help me convince Rockstar Games to provide an option in GTA VI to make all guns shoot bubbles, instead of actual bullets.

They would have to have been born yesterday to believe that old line.
