Think that Nvidia fake framers are the worst issue here cause it is being seen solution by publishers and corpos alike where they can push out games without proper shader optimization/coding etc. Just mash AI-magic-upscaler on it and call it a day... What could go wrong.
Unreal is a movie engine now. They treat the "game" engine part as second class citizens. That's why its huge red flag for UE5 games. They care more about movie cinematic than gameplay. FFS the game doesnt even let you rebind keys. No care for gameplay, just want to push graphics.
And I'll say it again. You expect more from a demo for the public than that it runs like nuts
I think restarting the game does something to the upscaling options, e.g. the percentage you prior set in the resolution quality scale setting isn't saved and the game starts with upscaling on by default. May be wrong though.
Meanwhile, playing on an older system at the next level down, it looks just fine, plays well... seriously, what in the world do you want, a free new maxed PC every year so you don't have to crap on things because of your own issues?
Funny, I was getting over 60 with older hardware at a more mid range setup. Did you have something else hogging resources, or is it dusty or something?
- TSR + 80% resolution quality
- AA to Low
- Shadow Quality to High
- Global illumination to Medium
Every other settings suggested Gothic setting.
Also turned down Motion blur to 28
Bloom to 0
Ambient occlusion to 0
My system r7 9800x3d + rx 7800xt + 32gb 6000mt/s under proton wine experimental (linux).
Game looks ofc awesome due to UE5 engine lights and stuff. But my frame times bounce between 11ms to 40ms all the time making it somewhat unplayable. Didn't try if any specific setting was causing this stutter. But i think its very common with unreal engine in general (had similar issue with Black myth wukong example)
Game felt thou even bit more "optimized" for me with these settings compared to against even Black Myth Wukong (which i kinda needed to use frame gen to make it on playable framerates and look still awesome)
That said. If they can manage to crush those optimizations and keep the game woke free. This game will be for sure strong contender for Goty Title. But yet again. Lots of optimization over the engine is needed and other stuff ofc that people complain (keybindings).
Other than that feels and looks good game for me to buy even at launch. (But it needs more optimization over the engine. And atleast FSR3 minimum)
EDIT:
FPS got fixed 80-100 with going fullscreen and dropping global illumination to low as is mentioned later on with a tip
