Gothic 1 Remake

Microtransactions, huh? (developer clarified there are none!)
FINAL EDIT: I was just scrolling through the game page to see what had been going on with this game, and saw the G-Store/G-Coins post, which led me to create this post. I did not see any mention of this being an April Fools joke (which it is) and the developers provided this clarification below. So glad to hear that it was a joke! Looking forward to the remake of one of my favorite games of all time. Sorry again for any misunderstanding this may have caused -

Cheers,

H

EDIT: I hope I am wrong about this post, and if so, wholeheartedly apologize for any erroneous information. I asked the devs for clarification and am awaiting response. As mentioned below, I am a huge Gothic fan and am very much looking forward to the game.

Original Post:

First of all, I am a huge Gothic fan. I've played through Gothic 1-3 and Risen 1-3 several times and have been really looking forward to this remake.

However, I have to say I really did not expect the devs to implement microtransactions. I guess everyone needs more money to get the job done these days. Personally, I'm VERY much against them in games that I pay full price to purchase, and I fully expect this game to be at least 50-60 bucks for the PC. When games are clearly Free to Play/Pay to Win (FTP/PTW), this sort of thing is expected, and I generally stay away from those games like the plague.

I can tolerate microtransactions for character skins and the like, but when devs start adding boosters, weapons, armor, and other items like that, it starts to affect the way the game is designed overall, and sadly may well keep me from buying and playing this game.

Sounds like the devs have gone down this road with the Gothic remake. I think it's unfortunate, personally.

No, we have not gone down this road and we dont have that on the roadmap. Gothic 1 Remake is a classic premium game with no microtransactions.
Why did you think there will be microtransactions?

Because OP seems to take April Fools' Day Jokes for truth?

Whew, glad to hear it! I saw the G store in one of your posts which mentioned skins as well as items for improving the gameplay experience in Gothic Remake.

Just to clarify, and to make sure I was wrong, you are not selling ways to improve your gameplay in Gothic Remake, such as potions and other in-game items?
Skins and the like, while I'm not a big fan of, I can tolerate as they don't really affect gameplay. But when you start selling ways to make a player get ahead, aren't those in essence microtransactions?

Thank you so much for the clarification as I definitely do not want to spread misinformation. I am really looking forward to this game and was really bummed when I read about the selling of in game items.

Cheers,

H
