I am sure that there will be difficulty levels to make the game FUN for different types of players.
The valley isn't dangerous to the Barons with their 70-95 str and good gear.
The valley isn't dangerous to the heavy guards with their 100 str and bad weapons.
To be able to even damage a shadowbeast in melee (100 armor) you'd need at least 36 strength with the old battle axe (67 dmg). To put that into perspective, that's 1 more str then guards with the light guard armor have.
In the old camp the only ones who can fight a shadowbeast in melee are the ore barons and the heavy guards.
The former cause they have decent str and excelent gear, the latter cause they are as strong as nature (or rather the trainer limit) allows but with bad weapons (32 dmg swords).
If the valley is still extremely dangerous when you wield as much power as a heavy guard or an ore baron, then how the hell are the camps still standing?
From a RP point of view----
The valley is a dangerous place - there are packs of wolfs, snappers, undead even orcs are present and control the southern part of the colony. Only roads between the camps are mostly safe.
Not every person behind a barrier is a fearless warrior, most of them are commoners who failed to pay their taxes, thiefs etc.
Why would anyone want to risk his life and hunt a superpredator like a shadowbeast(there are only 2 of them btw) who has no natural enemies?
