Gothic 1, Gothic 2, Gothic 3 included czech subtitle. Why remake of first game dont have it? Any reason for this? In Czech and Slovakia is this series very popular.

T-Moor: Maybe you as someone inside developer team (I guess you are) can provide me some intel for this problematic below.

It would be awesome if we could get an oficial czech subtitles. Although I know its crazy expensive. I know that if there was an official czech translation for example for GTA V, it would cost around 10 million czk at that time when it came out.

One thing I don't understand though. There are few very good and experienced groups of people who translates games. For example lokalizace.net. I personally "worked" on some games there.
Why can't developers come to some kind of an agreement with these people who does it for free? I understand that translation must be professional. I know that developers couldt provides some text material to anyone who want to translate. Thats why I said there are only few of these groups who has some history already. (at least in Czech Republic).

It would be win for everyone if developers could provide all the text material in advance to a translation team. They would translate it for free or for some symbolic sum, developers would have higher sales in that teritory and players would be happy.
And I am pretty sure those translation teams would go for it.

If czech game Kingdom Come Deliverence can get at first only fan czech dubbing turned into an oficially implemented into game by developers themselves, why cant this work with subtitles?

Is it a problem with licence rights for the final "product" or something like that?

Thank you for your idea! I will forward it further! As I said before, we value all our communities and do our best to keep everyone happy at the release!

How does it look? the game will be out in a couple of months, and we still don't know if it will have a Czech language (texts).

We don't have a release date.
For now there is no Czech localization.

So it is very sad that studio is not planning a Czech location for the text, even though the Czecho-Slovakia community of the Gothic series is one of the biggest. Certainly bigger than Japanese, Korean, Spanish or Italian...

And I bet there are plenty of professional translators who translate games for free... only you're obviously not interested ( https://lokalizace.net )

I guess there is no point of arguing with them. They have the numbers. If people here in Czechia and Slovakia will not buy the game then official czech translation is not profitable. I think "Filip Ženíšek", guy who made official translation for The Witcher 3 or Cyberpunk for CD Projekt Red, mentioned in the interview that the official translation of game of this scale can cost few milion czk.
Its sad. I really think if they really wanted they could make it happen with colaboration with legit czech translation teams as lokalizace.net for example. If they provided them texts from the game to translate earlier before release or something like that...
Someone will definitely translate Gothic Remake some day but we will have to wait 1-2 years minimum for it...
I guess best advice is, buy the game if you want to play it. If enough people buy it, one day we might have official czech translation for some other game. But realistically probably not even that...
I really don't understand why we even have czech channel on their discord server then... Or other language channels who will also not get their localization.

It's a matter of principle. All of the original Gothic games had Czech built into the base game, I don't see why the remake shouldn't have it, not to mention that the Authors prefer languages like Italian, French, Korean, Japanese or Spanish, even though there is almost zero fan base in those countries..... And as a bonus, they did a translation of the game into Russian. In this day and age, when Russia is committing crimes in Ukraine, and threatening the world with WW3, and committing Sabotage all over Europe.. this is a mockery! And that's even though I know how huge community of fans of this game lives in Russia.

On principle alone, the vast majority of players will not buy the game in CZ because of the lack of translation. They'd rather download it for free from Skidrow's website than support a studio that completely ignores them, hoping for an unofficial translation from some loyal fan community.

You are right, this is something that is startling for me too about Russia and russian localization(s).
I get there is a big fan base there but given what is happening in these days, last few years? But money runs the world, right? No matter where they come from...
Who knows how big fan base is in Italia, France, Korea, Japan or Spain? Maybe not that large but it can be still more people given to size of the country than big fan base here in czechia and slovakia which are smaller countries.

This is vicious circle. Developers will not make localization because not enought players in that country buys the game. And players will not buy the game if developers wont make localization. Someone has to make the first step and I think it should be developers or publisher because I think its more probable that more players will buy the game if it has czech localization than that developers will make czech localization in the next time if they see that the previous game had good numbers in that country...

Just play it in English or German. I don’t need a localization in my own language to be able to enjoy the game.

Better that they focus on improving the game than on spending money and energy on localizations.

Well, not everyone from CZ or SK wants a localization, so arguing about size of community is kind of wrong. Personally, I am going to ignore it even if they make it, since I prefer games in english.

And honestly, people coming on forum and begging, or even being rude towards the developers because of localization is pathetic. I think they can count the numbers and decide which localizations will turn a profit and which wont. Your post probably wont turn their business strategy around.

Personally, I am behind the creation of several Czech languages for the game (Rome Total War: Remastered, Stronghold Definitive Edition etc..)

And of course, I'm not forcing anyone to create an Czech language for crazy money. But as mentioned, there are people who do game translations as a hobby, for minimal or no reward.
