Myth - "Gothic is most popular in Germany"

So some time ago I saw Megalomaniac say that this is the country where the game is most popular, but I don't really see that, I can see it just being a bias because he's german himself. How can someone prove that?

From my observations Gothic is more popular in Poland, I can see it from:
- Tons of polish videos of all kinds made in the past and still being made to this day with tons of views, and annual "Golden Innos" events.
- First ever video to reach 1m views (currently at 3.3m) made by polish guy.
- On international Discord servers, people who react to news and announcements are in mast majority from Poland (reacting with :pl: flag).
- On the same servers, and even on official THQ Gothic Remake server german channels have (currently) the last post made in 2021 while polish channels thrive to the point they received a special offtopic channel.
- Most anticipated mods ever (CoM, HoK) are polish.
- Polish Gothicpedia is the most detailed source of information, with nearly 8500 articles. Supposedly nominated as one of the best polish wikis.
- Gothic Multiplayer and Online made and mostly played by polish players.
- It's just a religion in Poland, some would say even bigger than Witcher.

I bet there's more I left out.

What does speak in Germany's favor here, anything other than "It's German game = Germans are biggest playerbase".

He said that based on sales numbers, not something we can publicly give, but sales wise Germany have more sales of Gothic than any other country based on population/ratio.

Since we can't know the details, like does this concern Steam/GOG sales only, or physical as well, that's not very credible.

On the other hand in Poland there's unfortunately still a significant group of people who... let's just say would not appear in the sales numbers.

Germans maybe bought the most times, but Poland is definitely having the TOP1 spot for popularity in general, if you take a human approach to it and not just going by official numbers. Not even saying the majority of all the DLC's are made by polish people. Also Czech people must have a very high spot.

It's made in Germany and German people like it. Okay, I'm not going to hold that against the game. To me in NA it just says the game may be a little different than the main stream games I get on STEAM. Certainly not a bad thing though.

I don't understand why it's so important to exactly which country loves gothic the most?
Every gothicn fan knows it's germany and poland who are the biggest fans. Who exactly is the bigger fan is completely irrelevant.
What a weird thing to get annoyed about.

Also, alot of the points are really weak or plain wrong. But since it's pointless in the first place, I won't get into it.

As a german, i can confirm that every mature citizen has to permanently own at least 20 new (not inherited), unique copies/keys of Gothic to ensure international recognition of germany's gothremacy in the world at all times.
