Gothic 1 Remake
Just copy the Risen 1 combat system
Here is your combat system that will be loved by all Gothic fans:
- Start at low level with unskilled/low combo attack animation. Add combo hits and more skilled animations the more you level up each weapon skill. This is similar to G1 and G2.
- Have a dodge mechanic similar to G1/G2/Risen 1 (NO ROLLS THIS ISN'T DARK SOULS)
- Include parrying as a skill to be acquired against human enemies
- Whatever you do, don't make the player overpowered and make sure he starts weak.

Short recap:
-G1 and 2 didnt give you any clear opportunity to hit human-like enemies because they could just infinitely block/backdash and if you tried baiting them to attack you first you would inevitably get hit because attacking was instant, no wind up. Animals could be backdashed to bait a running attack which could be sidestepped and you could hit them in the back (Wolves, Snappers etc)
But when do you attack Humanoids??

No, wrong, it should be the system from Severance: The Blade of Darkness.

your crazy to even say that, the nameless hero stands his ground or dies trying, combat from Severance: The Blade of Darkness would destroy the remake.

Would you care to elaborate on that? Severance's combat would have kicked ass if combined with Gothic 1, so I'm not sure as to why you're dismissing his comment like that. Do you have any SPECIFIC reasons and examples?
mount and blade bannerlord i would be fine with that one i guess cos risen 1 was abit basic as far as i remember but i liked the game apart from the pirate theme so taht oudl be cool as well. When i play mount and blade 2 bannerlord i always wished it was a rpg like gothic 1... so i kinda like that idea..

The attack speed should change. I want a chance to react.
This way blocking can become way to powerfull and enemies need something to bypass it.

-Better reaction windows.
-Block that works in relation with the enemy stats to prevent OP Blocking.

My Vision to Address Blocking Problems that people have with Gothic CS

Your STR vs Enemy STR
in Blocking Triggers:
Bad - Ok - Good Block Animation (Clumsy)
+++
Your Weapon Skill vs Enemy Weapon Skill
in Blocking Triggers (Better Animated):
Bad - Ok - Good Block Animation (Skilled)

Different Blocks give Big - Small - No Attack Windows.
In case of bigger difference you just Fail Block and get Partial Damage

Such Gothic Combat System Upgrade will be Ok in my Eyes,
because it will be True to the way Combat was progressing in Gothic and give Richer/Modern feel to the game by adding more to what was already there.

That's not a fact, just a dumb opinion.

Also, Sekiro plays fairly differently from Dark Souls.
You would know it, if you had any clue of what you were blabbing about.

A bit late, but +1 for combat system like in Gothic 2 :steamthumbsup:

And dont get me even started on Gothic 3, Elex or one of this ... :pirate:

Well, Gothic 2 was ... somewhat "ok-ish"

But still, it wasnt the best either.
And from the PC player perspektive i would say, yes, of course, go for it.
With adjustments of course.
Its actually better then the current ♥♥♥♥.

But from the console-player perspective i would say: "Urks, that's horrible".
Only one button to attack and to block? Where`s the fast attack button? And where is something like the heavy attack button? And how to dogde?
That's just so straight forward, so one-dimensional, so boring ...
You have to recognice them aswell.
Why? Because modern games are coming for the consoles aswell.
This remake won't be a exception.

So, Gothic 2 combat system isn't the thing to go.
Risen 1 or Elex is actually more likely. MUCH MORE tbh. Just because they allready have a functional controller setup.
But im sure they are doing something completely else.
But, there are good news too, it wont be something like Gothic 3 because they dosn't have a functional controller setup for this game.

Btw, i found Risen (1!) was quit fun to play, why are so many people bashing on it?
I would love to see it again.
