Peglin
Spinfection is kinda bad
First off, i love this game its so fun to get broken ball combos and see the numbers fly.

I have been unable to unlock the Spinfection character though because seriously Spinfection is bad. Its actively encouraging play that allows the enemy a chance to hit you since it triggers after their turn, the balls that apply it dont hit that hard nor apply that much Spinfection, and im somehow supposed to get 40+??
Even turning Crucible off, i feel getting a Spinfection ball just dooms my play through. I cannot even get through the castle because im taking so much damage, and if i try to add defense balls then i have even less spinfection. Think the best ive had on one target before it just died is like 12 or something.

Obviously thats not gonna happen unless its vs a boss but i either slaughter with other balls or die to poke damage. Either way i cant get that much spinfection.

Spinfection is a slow killer, yes. You can't rely ONLY on Spinfection to get the job done, you need to add Ballusion, Bramble or enough DPS to keep the front line at bay.
But it is pretty powerful because of how it works. Spinfection 3 will deal 30 + 20 + 10 = 60 HP total. Yes, it's over the course of three turns, but if you can accumulate a decent amount, it becomes boss killer, and is a good way to soften up other enemies.

The problem is, of course, inflicting enough Spinfection to have an effect. The only Spinfection ball worth using is Caudron Bubball. Sure, 1/2 is not a lot - but it applies up to 3 Spinfection to all enemies. Grubby Gloves and Choke Mod help a lot, as they add Spinfection 1 to regular attacks and bombs respectively.

And, of course, there is Spinsepsion relic. Which makes Spinfection tick up instead of down, and turns a decently powerful mechanic into an outright broken one.

Spinfection would feel a lot better if the damage happened at the end of your turn rather the end of the enemy's turn.

Also, about getting 40+ Spinfection - you very much need that one ball that doubles Spinfection amount on targeted enemy.

Dont think ive even seen that ball yet. So far ive only seen 3 ways to get spinfection:
The dagger that adds 9 i think it was at lv3 on a crit
The blob that hits everything with 4-5 on a crit (forget exact number)
And the relic to make bombs apply 1 spinfection.

That might explain why im not able to get 40 if im not seeing the ball to double it.

Yeah, class unlock in Peglin sucketh. The bloat is way too big for default character to make any meaningful build.
