Gotta say I am not enjoying the class unlock requirements
In 7 runs I've been offered exactly 2 ballution orbs, sorta getting tired of banging my head against the wall for this, it's way too RNG based. Super happy for the people who got it in one or two runs but I haven't been as lucky as you have been.

So, what? You need to get the new achievements to unlock the new classes? They really seem difficult/RNG dependent to get.

Would've been nice if the game actually said what you need to do to unlock the new achievements, too. I don't like having to go to forums/wikis/discords just to figure out something that shouldn't be hidden info.

Gonna admit that I find this experimental .9 to be a massive L on Red Nexus.

Still love the game but most certainly shelving till at least a stable .9 update.

Between the ambiguous mystery locking of the new characters; to the poorly (barely) play tested orbs and new mine encounter. Update landed like a big ol wet fart to me.

Quite a shocker to expect a 1.0 and instead get a “here!!! Play test for us and finish our game”

Rose colored glasses are removed and I’ll have a hard time seeing this developer as any different from the lot of em. See ya in 1.0

The core flaw in the game is how RNG heavy everything is.

This is early access. Andthis is the experimental branch of the game, too. You basically did sign up for playtesting.

I signed up for play testing until April 25. In March we were told to expect 1.0.

3 days prior we get a “whoopsie nevermind; experimental .9 instead hehe.”

I think that’s the part that has me salty. Delays don’t bother me; unless you tell me 3 days before. Man up and tell me things went wrong (which I’m ok with, crap happens) a minimum of three weeks before your scheduled release.

Don’t hype me up until just before. I think that’s scummy and bad business.

From the state of this update and the missing content that didn’t make it; They knew well in advance this game was no where near 1.0 yet stayed silent.

Communicate; they have before? It’s easy. Temper my expectations and tell me april 2nd 1.0 is delayed but we are still getting an unfinished .9 to mess around with on the 25th and I’d have no right to complain about what I have.

That’s the only point I want to make.

(I still like this game and will play when it’s better)

Er, just open the Steam Overlay and then hover your mouse over the achievements? Or do the same in library view, of course.

That's not really intuitive though. The unlock requirements should be listed IN the game somewhere. I shouldn't have to go to steam to figure out how to unlock them, it's poor conveyance. Just because there is a solution doesn't make it a good one.

its so annoying and unnecessarily hard, even when im on no crucibal, going for every armor orb i can get, i was only getting max 30 stack that one time, and that achivement require way more

I think I hit 40 ballwark in the last act, but when you're taking 10 damage a turn and fights only last so long its kinda hard. We're talking a minimum of what 1200 damage to the enemy? Can't even find a fight that'll survive that till later and by then they'll destroy your armor as fast as you make it. Only thing I can think is lucking into the multiball relic and hoping its enough.
I just managed to get the bulwark achievement. I got offered the item that gives you +5 bulwark everytime a shield debuff is applied to a peg. I paired this with the new orb that gives you 1 bulwark and debuffs a peg with a shield every (6/5/4) (?) hits. I was very lucky to get the matrioska relic that gives multiball and (-2,-2) both for extra hits and to not kill bosses too quickly. With one decent shot I was getting around 80 stacks of bulwark per shot on that orb.

These unlocks feel extremely rng dependant not just on getting orbs and relics that synergise well, but in making a build that doesn't kill the boss too quickly before building up the required stacks. It took me around 20 runs to unlock the poison guy and 10 for the bulwark. I could have seen it taking far longer if I hadn't gotten very lucky. The rewards for the unlocking don't seem particullary great compared to the effort involved. Sadly its not just about the effort, but also the frustration you can build towards the achievement then get shafted on the choice of bosses or not have enough damage to easily clear the basic fights on the way to the boss.

yep, exactly my thought, you are literally just forcing a specific build in a rng roguelike, if you are lucky you can do it first try, if not it might take 30 runs, since you are pushing way to hard for a specific build instead of adapt what you get along the way, you wont enjoy any of the run when you doing it, sometimes you will lose early even without crucible

i switched cruciball off and it didn't take too many runs for me to get the balwark achievement and the poison achieve. yeah, you have to work towards specific builds but it was pretty fun trying to work out how to set it up. took longer for me to get the new boss to appear, didn't show in 6 runs with peglin but showed up first run with one of the other characters.

I've been grinding it with no luck, not even getting close most of the time.

It's especially frustrating coming from Slay the Spire in which you unlock the other characters simply by winning a run by any means. It makes it a lot less of a slog while retaining some of the challenge.

Compared to how it is now, I think it would be easier if the other characters were unlocked by getting to Cruciball 5 and 10.

Wow, put tons of hours into this game just for the new classes to be released FINALLY and them be locked behind some BS requirements to unlock them regardless of time played? Bad call devs, game is already feeling stale and you lock them behind the stuff that is stale in the first place with BS requirements.
