Can you return a body mid-embalming?

I had it 2 or 3 times now that, while I was embalming the last body, I decided for sure that that one wasn't it, but I can't seem to be able to get them back out of the bay so that I can get the other body from cold storage, give it the mark and cremate it. Is that intentional or a bug?

You have to finish the body once you begin, so there is no going back. Just mop it up quick and get to work with the right one. After embalming all bodies you can drag them out again to see if they move or speak. Usually when the demon is right one the body will say "You're wrong" as you drag it to crematory. Usually happens midway on the hallway.

I've played quite a bit more now, and the "You're wrong, you know" isn't a confirmation that you have the right body. I think it's just one possible line of the demon trying to taunt you while you drag a body to the crematory. (Haven't had the demon say that in the last 12 or so games where I identified the correct body and burned it, getting either ending 2 or 5.)

But thanks for confirming that the game is meant to work like that and I'm not experiencing a weird bug.

Oh thanks for clearing that quote thing for me. I guess I got lucky when it was correct when the demon spoke. I have a question about basement ending, how do I get the event for code to spawn on forehead of the bodies?

I don't think you can trigger that event in particular, but there is also a clue in the bathroom that can lead you to the correct code, if RNG isn't on your side and you're not getting that event.
