Wrong Body (Spoilers)
Let me preface by saying I absolutely love this game and that my question(s) are legit and not complaints.

I just played through a shift a few mins ago. I got to the third body. The guy had three different scratch mark areas and like four different sequences plus demonic voice. I mean, it was almost obvious that body should have been the one.

The ONLY other body I thought of prior to picking the above body was that there was another one with one scratch mark. Her deep freeze door also opened randomly when I walked back there. Still went with the guy described above, and it was the wrong body (doc said so).

Is this just random? Should we be ignoring the "obvious" choice and choose the "subtle" choice? I'll end by saying, I can't stress enough how many f'd up things happened on the wrong body, which makes it feel random. I realize the research says the demon will try and trick us, but I felt this was beyond trickery.

P.S. Big shout-out to the dev on this one. Knocked it out of the park. Game is phenomenal.

I've found if a body pulls itself out of storage or is smiling then so far for me 100% that is the possessed body, beware the grinning man though he always looks like he has a bit of a smile. Also after a haunt i will recheck whichever body i have on the table at the time, you are looking at the arms for a sigil or I've also had a new deep wound and also check the back for an inverted crucifix. Out of my 10 shifts I've only had to embalm all 3 bodies twice, my first go and when I decided to see what happens if I just mess about and run down time.
Use your paper regularly, you can get the first sigil as soon as you start your shift. You can also get clues about the house by what lesser spirits are haunting you (the white lady, the dark shadow, the mimic) however these don't seem fool proof as you may see all 3 but 1 will appear more than others. I find the white lady hardest to spot.
Another thing I've noticed is once I've marked the demon body I get ran into and knocked over, almost as though it's panicking.
I'm loving this game, I'd love to see more lore and expansion in gameplay.
I feel 1 thing they could do to make it a bit trickier to figure the demon is up it's name from 4 sigils to 5 as currently you can get the demon most runs with only 2 sigils.

The scratches mean nothing. If you can mark it off on your checklist, it isn't a real mark. Stab wounds along the back (if you see them appear on the chest one by one, that is a haunt that triggers when you get closer to possession and thus don't count as a sign), and sigils on the wrists are signs of the correct body. So far, the sigils on the wrists have been the most reliable sign. And also the only new marks I have seen.

Story sequences (where you can't interact with anything) are tied to possession as well, not the body you are looking at. Other sequences are fairly random, and usually don't mean the body is possessed (some exceptions are if the figure you see is not the body you are working on, but a different one). The freezer door banging and the body being pulled out are good indications that it is the possessed one. But not all the time, beware if you see this happen to more than one body (I've even seen it happen to empty freezers that bodies can't go in). The demonic voice is also a sign, but only if it speaks in tongues. If it speaks English, that is just a haunt and not a possession. If the eyes open or close without you doing anything, that is a sign. As is a smile. Sometimes it can be hard to tell, especially since one of them is usually smiling), but if you go to look at the shoulder (when looking for marks and signs for the checklist), pay attention to the mouth. If it is actually smiling, the corner will be tilted more obviously from that angle. If it isn't it will look just like all the rest.

If you have made it through all three bodies, and can narrow it down to two, there is a way to rule out one body. Grab the matchbox from the small table near the door to the bathroom. Grab a cremation bag from the shelves opposite the retort. Fill the bag with ashes from the retort (there is a slot at the bottom). Spread the ashes over the body, and set them alight with the match. Check the symbol that appears. It always shows a house symbol. By this point, you should know the name and house already. If the symbol matches, it is very likely to be the right body (never been wrong for me, but I usually check the body that has shown the most signs, so that could be why). If the symbol doesn't match, it is definitely not the right body.

If you aren't sure about the house, use your notepad. As your possession increases, the scribbles will show you the house sign the demon belongs to. So if the sigils haven't narrowed it down, use your notepad.

Keep an eye out for these signs, use these tools, and match the sigils and house and you should be able to win quite consistently.
