No. I've completed the entire game and gotten 100% and never had to interact with it. I'm pretty sure it's either set dressing or forgotten content during development.

what about in the demo?? It had parts in a desk you could pick up.

I didn't even remember that part from the demo. It would be neat to get some DLC that features more tasks and more haunts.
