Was there an event taking place while you were attempting to use the scalpel? Some events will interrupt the ability to work on the body and you have to 'clear' them (for lack of a better term) in order to proceed. After 14 shifts I've only ever encountered an issue where I couldn't work on the body when I was actively trying to ignore an event the game was actively pressing me to notice.
There are some marks on the body that are not taken into consideration when doing the clipboard ones. Some look just like deep blade lacerations (not the scratch marks) and you cannot click on them. The ones that do count are always sort of 'smoking' to guide you to them. I've missed a couple scratches on the face because they were very faint and the way the light hit them made them almost impossible to see. Also, in some instances, I've found double markings on the back and had to roll each side separately to reach them.
1. While using the embalming machine, there was a non-specific event that was interrupted or that never triggered to its completion. This led to no more events or progress. Quitting the game and coming back solved the issue.
2. Dad clips out in the first couple of seconds of Rebecca's ending cutscene, and so you awkwardly stare and the background whiteness and Rebecca's hand while she does her dialogue but interacts with nothing.
2. If you put ash on one body, store the body with ash (unburnt), pull out a different body and THEN burn the ash on the body that is still in storage then the body that is currently outside of storage gets the marked instead(it also may have incorrectly marked? unsure if it was a glitch cause of what I did tho or different reason) and the body in storage still has ash on the stomach
What resolution does it say you play it in the options? I wonder if the clipping is a display ratio / fov / camera clip plane type of thing. The details could help lead to it getting identified and addressed.
If you feel this happens again, a pic of your clipboard plus the marking in question could help; there are a few markings that happen to the body after the game starts, and those do not count (as odd as it might seem).
The ash thing I'm going to try now, that sounds funky.
Ok, confirmed the ashes thing - thanks for reporting it.
Also for your information, the marking that appears is the marking that would have appeared if you had done the ashes on that body instead. It is not the right marking for the body you wanted to do it for.
Like Top Dog said, there is a rock that you can pick up on one of the pillars before clicking on the body. Another way that you can do this is if you have Rebecca's Dad's necklace in your inventory. You can place it on him. It is another way to get one of the endings.
There are certain marks that can't be logged onto the clipboard. Marks like lightning bold shaped scars, a demon symbol on the right wrist, an upside down cross on the right shoulder. If it's saying you're missing a mark, it means you missed an ordinary mark. Some of them can be hard to see because of lighting and it depends on the body. For example, I find that on the black dude, it is hard to see paler marks on his back rather than the red marks. On all of the bodies, there are these light circle marks (like dimples) that are pale and can be seen on the arms, face, back, legs, and feet. Sometimes I miss them and have to check the body over again.
Usually when I encounter that it means that an event (story bits) is happening or going to.
I finally encountered that and it was really terrifying lol omg my heart was racing. Thanks for telling me this! I never would have discovered that.
First of all I would like to say that I loved my first (8 hours) play trough of the game. Most of the glitches I saw got fixed by the newest patch. But there are these 3 issues I can still report.
1- It sometimes happens that I cannot burn the bodies. They are well in place, but the Button to trigger the furnace just won't activate. I do get the Clicking sound, but nothing happens. It gets fixed if I log out in the main menu and go back in.
2- During one of my shift, I got stuck in the ''mark screen'' overlay. It would not disappear from the screen. I could not take the Mark or interact with objects. but I could walk around, and open the item menu.
Just before the bug, I tried to take the Mark, but my hands where full. So I went and wiped the Body's face (to use the item in my hand). Than the phone rang. I went Toward it (needed to go that way to take the mark anyways), than I got ''shoved to the ground'' by an invisible force (aka the demon I guess) and it said ''Let me In!'' Than I went to the cabinet and opened the ''mark screen'' and than I got stuck.
Once again logging out and back in fixed the issue.
3- On another shift, I was working on a body and had just got its mouth shut. I was going back to the cabinet to get some eye caps. I saw the lady ghost peeking trough the door frame of the hallway. She looked at me a little while than she disappeared into the darkness of the hallway. I grabbed the eye caps and was making my way back to the body and as I was passing the door frame, the Ghost Lady grabbed me and dragged me to the ground.
The whole screen got black and I thought I was getting in a cut scene, but nothing happened. I could walk around (could hear my footsteps) and I could hear some whispering and some ambient sound (sounded a bit like light flickering and fans from the body storage room), but everything remained completely black.
I was able to take the paper to find the Sigils out and open the quick item menu at that moment. But no matter how much I tried to walk around I was stuck on that black screen.
Logging out to the main menu and logging back in solved the issue. Gladly i did not lose too much progress.
I am sorry, I know I am giving a lot of details, I am hoping it can help to pinpoint the context of the bug/glitch and than makes it easier to reproduce it in order to try to fix it.
Keep up the great work! I am enjoying this game a lot and I know I am not the only one <3
