If you take too long you lose the game. Pick up the pen and paper when entering and continuously check your sanity by scribbling on it. Thats how you measure how long you have

time is somewhat criticaly. if you want to read everything, you can either start the embalming process, (game saves when you attach a new body to the embalming station) after that read all the text and then exit to menü and continue. this resets the progress, and helps if you want to read all the text first. alternatively i think you can read everything befor attaching a body to the embalming station. i think the timer only starts after attaching the first body.

How to check the sanity?

The only in-game way is to open the main inventory window and 'scribble' on the notepad in the top-left corner by clicking on it.

ok, thank you
I swear I've been in the game during a shift just doing nothing for over an hour and the pad stayed mostly a scribble. I think its only a time crunch if you're working on the bodies.

I ran out of time and got the bad ending :-(

how do u know how much time u got

Using the notepad you can only estimate it once you get familiar with the different transitions the scribbles make as time progresses. It should always be taken just as an indicator of how much time has been burned, since the remaining time can be burned up faster or slower depending on actions taken. Hard with that to project how much actual time remains since it doesn't count down in real time.

basically a race against the clock

wish there was a mode that didn't have a countdown

Yeah, same here.
If the game had a "relax mode", i would have bought it already. It is on my wish list though.

As far as I know the Dev Brian plans to release a mode like this. At least one where you just work on bodies.

Yes a relax mode would be nice. I hate time pressure so much... It takes me so much time each shift to find the right items because they are never in the same place. It would be great if they were at least always in the same place. But always somewhere else, that kind of annoys me and I'm busy searching most of the time. It's also difficult because the game is not in German. I had to translate the words first and then it's hard to remember them.

They don't have a "relax" mode, but you can turn off "item randomization" in the game settings so that they will always appear in the same spot.
