Unfortunately some of them you can tell aren't trolls by how careful they are with presenting their concerns over no dead genitals being shown (for sure you're right some are). This game is awesome but it definitely attracted some people with real mental issues as well, I guess probably not surprisingly...
To say that anyone who doesn't conflate nudity with sex has their brain so broken they need a doctor to fix it is... unkind at best.
It's not a troll lol one of the longest (by far) threads on this board is a huge discussion about it. It negatively affects the game for a shocking amount of people.
I don't care to see the bits (beyond some morbid curiosity), I would not find it titillating. but I care for censorship even less.
In real life the bodies would be nude. It would not make sense any other way.
To find them clothed in the game is just annoying as it's obviously to cater for prudes.
Since you are dealing with dead people, you should treat the subject with respect, and to me that would mean treating it honestly. There is no good reason (beyond catering for prudes) to censor a game in this manner - it's obviously not aimed at children, so stop treating us as such.
I haven't even played the game yet, I just feel that this detail will ruin the immersion for me.
Please add it as an optional extra, I'll even wait before playing - I think the game will be more realistic and therefore more immersive for it.
ps: The first thing I searched for after purchasing the game was a nude mod. Once again: for immersion, not weird jollies.
Thank you.
it must such being a game dev and u have to listen to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like this
Take it from someone who knows; if you get slapped with an 18+ label, or whatever the equivalent is for the industry you work in, the chances of your work finding an audience just plummeted. Distribution platforms will hide it, algorithms will push it down, social media sites will not allow you to advertise it, agents and networks won't touch it, and so on. I'm also incredibly annoyed at the American mainstream demonization of sexuality and nudity. But if you're an indie dev, an unsigned author, an unagented screenplay writer, you have no choice but to work within the system. It sucks but I can't ever fault an artist for doing it. Never. There's no good choice. Make the art you want and no one will ever see it. Play along and people will only see the compromised version. I promise you, if this game had nudity, there's a very good chance we wouldn't be here, you and I, because we would never have heard of this game. Don't blame the artists. Blame the system.
And in this case, it's not even a game about sexuality or anything near it. Expecting the dev to tank their own chances at their game finding an audience (even more than an indie dev already does just taking a chance on their idea) for what amounts to a very small non-thematic compromise, not on content but on form, is asking too much, I feel.
Is "catering for prudes" the same as censorship?
Is making a video game about ghosts and possession really "respecting the dead"?
Can you imagine a reason other than censorship that a video game about a mortuary might not have nudity?
That's called projection and its origin is narcissism (inflated, damaged ego) most likely to manipulate and control others with a varying opinion and attempt to silence them from being heard or having a different opinion entirely. Some of us wanted realism; find any morgue where every single cadaver is PG-13 or censored for a younger audience. Case in point, they just don't exist like that which makes this game look and feel censored. It makes it far less scary to the point of comical. Some PG-13 censor came through and dressed all the bodies to greatly decrease real life-accuracy.
I reiterate - this game would have been much more realistic and scary if it had actual nudity, with an adult toggle professional placed in the menu for anyone who wanted a real, gritty experience.
If you want to twist and manipulate that into some deviant thing, be my guest with your projection quest. Not all things regarding the nude form are about perversion, many works of art over the centuries were about depicting reality and art accurately, and games are a mix of both.
If you have an actual argument, please be intellectually honest enough use genuine facts to present it rather than mindgames like narcissistic projection to infer deviancy while promoting inaccuracy. Many if not most of you are not scientists in any way, which led to the purchase of this game in the first place.
"Wow, it's just like a real morgue!"
No, it's far from it and it was designed that way to appeal to all audiences except those who prefer realistic accuracy.
This is highly inaccurate. It reads like you're saying the only goal was to make the game less accurate. A game about ghouls and ghosts isn't accurate to real-life? Who would have guessed it?
Are you trying to say scientists don't play games,or that scientists would never play this game, or that not being a scientist is what makes other people play games? This doesn't make any sense.
You talk about how people are being manipulated and mischaracterised as perverts for wanting "realism", and then you spend a lot of time calling people narcissistic manipulators who are covering for their own perversion by calling others perverted. Gonna need a bit of evidence there.
Also, how is any of this narcissistic projection? Can you prove that the people calling you a pervert are secretly jerking it to pictures of dead bodies? Do you know the definition of narcissistic projection?
You know you can disagree with people and tell them they're wrong without calling them narcissistic, manipulative perverts using projection to shame others for their own perversions?
BTW I don't care if anybody wants to see dead digital dongs, I'm just sick of every big-brain on the internet diagnosing people they disagree with, with narcissistic personality disorder.
