Which is the exact problem Firaxis it's facing after today's disaster of a video launch. There are too many other game studios out there competing for our money to worry about "Well, maybe it won't be quite as ♥♥♥♥♥♥ as Humankind..."
They have made a poor choice to move away from the core idea of the entire Civilization series and I hope they aren't incredibly surprised when a good chunk of their core fanbase moves away to other games entirely.
It's sad and incredibly disappointing.
