So Civ 5 is better than Civ 6, and 6 is better than 7?
Why would firaxis think this is a good idea? You'd think they'd try and make better games, not worse.

5 is far superior to 6. Numbers prove it. I was hoping Civ 7 would take a leaf out of 5's book... but doesn't look like it. I still hold out hope though!

We haven't played it yet. It's easy to write it off before it has even been played.

Which is the exact problem Firaxis it's facing after today's disaster of a video launch. There are too many other game studios out there competing for our money to worry about "Well, maybe it won't be quite as ♥♥♥♥♥♥ as Humankind..."

They have made a poor choice to move away from the core idea of the entire Civilization series and I hope they aren't incredibly surprised when a good chunk of their core fanbase moves away to other games entirely.

It's sad and incredibly disappointing.

Don't worry civ 7 defenders, at least you know it'll be better than 8.

4 and 5, along with Alpha Centauri, were and are still pretty much the all time greats in the Civs and 4X genre. The series already peaked, the previous designs were very much polished and perfected, and its getting hard to come with new ideas in order to beat those oldies. Along with other players, I never was able to truly get excited about Civ 6... to be totally honest, some features about "Brave New World" in Civ 5 I already felt mixed about.

This series ended with Civ 5. From there on its like Fifa that nothing changed expect for number in title, number in cost and how much content is cut on release for dlc sales.

There had better be an Alpha Centauri 2 released before a Civ 8!

You might want to recheck those numbers.

I like CivV better, but for some reason have played much more Civ6

Why are you writing it off already? Did I miss something?
My list is still IV > Alpha Centauri > II > V > VI > III. (For their time, in the context in which they released, and in terms purely of personal enjoyment on my part.) I'm reserving judgment on VII, because despite having preferences, I've enjoyed every Civ game to one degree or another. And I'm not as perturbed by the changes shown as some are. I just want to know more about them.
