Where to buy the original?
Since Square Enix literally doesnt want me to pay for the original, I have to use some other sources. Can anyone help me?

No, I really do not care about this Switch port.

Thank you! It's so stupid that the game is not being sold on Steam anymore...

I can understand buying the original for collecting and archieving purposes, because, who knows how long the Steam code will stay avaiable on Square Enix's store and maybe use that particular version if you wanna take screenshots or videos of the game looking it's best.

But honestly, if you haven't played the game yet, which I assume is the case here, and you're going out of your way to pay more to prioritize playing through the worse playing version with less content just for the visuals, I do think you're absolutely nuts.

the worse playing version? geez...the original game was made for PC, the "definitive" version is just a Switch port with worsen lightning, worsen geometry, worsen textures and worsen grass density....I do not care about the 16-bit mode, I care about nice graphics which the S version does not have sadly

The old game was made for PS4 and ported to PC a year after the original release. The quite different 3DS version also released a year prior to any version of PC. Technically that's all just splitting hairs.

Here's the thing though, since you just now went out of your way to pay the big bucks for the old release, I take it you have *not* played any other version of the game before? So basically, you have no idea how all the quality of life changes to the S Edition improve on the gameplay which they do very much. So don't talk back.

So by your own logic he loses nothing, and his way gets the graphics he wants. He only wins here. You're the one upset about the old version not having the new changes, he doesn't seem to care. So, maybe stop caring so much what others do to have fun. You loser.

No, by my logic he's declaring the old version as superior without having played any of them. Let me care.

IMHO it is superior graphics-wise and that's for me the most important thing :)

It's like Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut. The DC improves boss battles but on the other hand it lacks in graphics as it's basically just a Wii U port. That is why the original HR will always be a superior PC game compared to the DC, at least for me.

Having played both versions this week, I simply don't find the improvements of the DE attractive enough. They aren't enough for the constant visual downgrade. Everything is so static, blurry, and lighting is awful. Hell, even some animations are better in the original version.

There is nothing nuts about it. The graphics were completely neutered in many areas, and ART is still king in DQ games, which were never EVER known for their gameplay let alone their mostly average stories. The art reigns supreme. Of course people will go out of their way to find something that has superior art that is not available anymore.

If it's the art you want, the art and character design is all still there. Lmao at the idea that DQ games are all graphical showcases for their time.

I bought the game from the local seller for 60 bucks. Yeah, I could have bought it directly from the Square Enix store for 60 bucks but I did not because of Square's hypocratic policy.
