But I don't think it's worth buying JUST to see the new story content. The 4 new character interludes are pretty fun to play through once or twice, but they're only about 30-40 minutes of content each and don't add much new stuff. Tockington is an awesome idea and some of the quests are really neat references to the older games, but overall it just felt pretty tedious to do the whole thing. I felt the same about 2D mode. The combat, menus, random encounters, etc just weren't really designed for this game and it feels clunky and less balanced.
But I think if you really like the 2D games and/or you want to do new 100% runs or challenge/draconian runs it's probably worth getting still.
There's more changes to this game that the usual ones that are mentioned like:
1- You can get into the horse race earlier than you could.
2- The table where you learn natural abilities is changed a bit. Veronica starts with the spell Crackle for example.
There's other changes that you will subtle notice.
I wouldn't call it being at the price this version was at when it released being a 'permanent discount'.
DQXI S on PC was $39.99 when it launched.
It is $39.99 now.
And yet IIRC the original was $59.99 when it launched. Seems like a 33% discount post-release to me.
The original isn't on sale any more. This is a different product, even if most of it is the same.
