Turn Based Party AI
One of the things I adore about the dragon quest games is the turn based system that also has party AI. This makes the game really fun for me and is enjoyable when grinding also.

Are there any other games that have this system? I understand the Grandia series is something like that. I might pick that game up today and try it out, but is there anything else like that?

I dunno, doesn't Persona 3, all your team members act on their own.

Wow really? I had been looking at that game because I like monster catching type games but hearing this makes it even more appealing.

It's actually the reason I'm having trouble enjoying MHS2. I haaate when I can't control my party members. You only control your hunter in MHS2 100% of the time, while you can occasionally give your monster some commands depending on whether you have enough of a resource built up. Then you get two 100% AI companions that just do whatever. I can't staaaaaaaand it.

Well...
I'm actually looking forward to that, lol.

Yeah, that is pretty cool but the monsters are so easy that I can just set all of my party to "Show No Mercy" and I just kill everything really quickly with virtually no chance of dying. I haven't had a single party wipe and I'm probably 2/3 of the way finished with the game now. I only change them to follow orders for boss fights, but I'm not sure that is even necessary. That new monk challenge is cool, but I am starting to get bored of this game and planning to purchase Pathfinder 2 in a few days and probably take a break from this game. Not sure if I'll ever finish it. It's cute and beautiful and everything, but it is not really a game anymore-it is pretty much just a cartoon Japanese movie at this point where you have to click the mouse from time to time and move around a little (playing on a PC).

I may finish it just for the Tickington 2D sidequests...lol :)

P.S. I think the most challenging battle I had so far was a random encounter where these metal hands kept appearing and they cast spells which could insta-kill my party. Kept having to revive my characters. Their experience must have been better than metal slimes though because I ended up getting around 70,000 experience points! so it was worth it! :) I've fought several different types of dragons, but they were all pretty easy...
